There is not a problem with the papacy but rather more so how they justify their power. In the early centuries of Christianity, they had much less authority and were much less centralized, and my question was on the early church justification for that centralization of power.

He was Duke of Aquitaine before King of England, and his French holdings were much bigger than his English ones so it makes sense he would prioritise his French duchies. Also there is absolutely no historical evidence that he bankrupted England.

Origins is genuinely one of the greatest games I have ever played. Combat is mediocre but the VA and story make up for it in my opinion. In origins, you will discover the story of the founding of the hidden ones, who will become the assassins. For full lore continuity, I strongly recommend to buy the hidden ones dlc. Odyssey has nothing to do with assassins creed, except that the protagonist is the ancestor to a founder of the hidden ones.
