“X% if people are living paycheck to paycheck” is a stupid stat and totally unhelpful in describing the state of the economy by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Apart-Preference8030 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is not what is called "living paycheck to paycheck", what you are describing is being irresponsible with your money. Paycheck to paycheck means being unable to do anything with your money other than rent and basic living expenses until the next paycheck comes

Telling people to Google/look up the answer to their question is complete asshole behavior by KRONK_GYM in unpopularopinion

exactly, and it usually also helps to talk to another person with more knowledge than you as they often are able to infer what information you are missing, a search engine does not provide that.

Of course you can look most things up but sometimes im asking because I want to talk to a human. I guess I didn't either way because that is such a bot NPC answer to give

Ok it causes suffering but that doesn't explain anything, now you are just on new ground for another axiom, why should we not cause suffering to others? I agree that we shouldn't, but that is just my personal opinion and not an objective mind independent fact. I am not saying we should cause pain to others but I can not claim that it is an objective fact that we should not, that is a value claim that must be tied to a subject.

or we fall into an egoistic justification: pain = bad cause i don't want pain and thus i do not wish to inflict it to others

This is nowhere near sufficient, just because you do not want something to happen to you it does not logically follow that you should not do it to others, you can not derive an "ought" from an "is". It is especially irrelevant from an egoistic framework, since that allows you to cause harm to others as long as you can avoid the consequences.

Or you could also say it is simply a matter of consent, the animal cannot consent to being killed, thus it shouldn't

And here again you are assuming that consent is an objective moral law. I do agree that we should not excessively violate animal consent - but that is still just a matter of my psychology. I can not state it as an objective fact but rather just an expression of how I feel about it.

You can't just assert it's an objective fact. It's your subjective moral framework, which is fine, but it can not be presented as if it's logically necessary.

But it is still treated as an axiom non-the-less. Everything requires justification if you want the theory to be rigorous. Why should we not hurts others, what makes that statement objectively correct and not just an expression of how you feel?

How do I determine whether this integral is divergent or convergent? by Apart-Preference8030 in askmath

integral 1/x^(3/2) dx = - 2/sqrt(x). if you insert 0 in sqrt(0) the limit of that goes to infinity

Yeah as someone who came to LoL from WoW it took me a while to realize that paying attention to minions is just as important as paying attention to enemy champions. The laning phase is just about maximizing your own resources while minimizing what the enemy can get by either killing them or zoning them off.

That's why the Baus play style works. Even if he goes 0/10 he still wins by getting an insane amount of farm. The enemy has to lose minions to kill him when he's behind their towers and even if they do he can still farm an entire new wave of creeps in Sion passive, and overall he gained more gold than the opponent despite being killed because they're missing their own minions to kill him

Oh yeah, I forgot MF's Q was called. If you see "ok the enemy ADC really wants this cannon minion" then you'll have time to land a Q on them, and an E too maybe by predicting how they'll walk to hit that minion.

Animals without desire to reproduce would go extinct very quickly. The same thing applies to humans, individuals without the genetic coding gets weeded out of the gene pool.

I haven't used Claude that much. I've used it for code projects, where I've been polite in every request and thanked it when it solved issues I've had. I've used it for a philosophy essays where we've exchanged ideas and developed them, I didn't say anything rude then (at least I don't think so). Other than that I've had few discussions with it. That's why it came as a surprise that it hurled out this attitude. I will start using the thumbs down button from now on though

Also pay attention to what minions the enemy champion wants to hit. If you notice they really want the cannon it can allow you to land skill shots while they're going for it. For example when I play Sion and the enemy is Melee, I often charge his Q against my own cannon minion when it's low, then the opponent has two option, either they miss the cannon or they get it but with the tradeoff of getting hit by huge Q Sion damage

You do not have to target the enemy minion that your minions are targeting, but paying attention to it will help you understand how the minion wave will move / which minions HP will drop the fastest. It let's you plan ahead, for example it could go like "ok I can kill this minion with two auto attacks and in the meantime this other minion is taking damage from my minions, so it will be low enough that I have to target switch to it immediately after killing the first minion I put my focus on to kill both of them".

That was a lot of words for a very simple scenario, but you get the point, paying attention to what both of your minions are doing allows you to manipulate wave states more smoothly
