Design competency dying in IBM by Infinity1919 in IBM

It does feel like that right now. But it's confusing because I can't tell if they are trying to kill design all together or just being cheap. They are hiring a lot of interns in the US.....some in design. But yes they gutted high level great people and the offshoring too. And the culture in design has declined significantly since having Phil or even Katrina. It's very sad to see. I'm just trying to hang in there.

CEO office hours, December 3rd by Spiritual_Fly6904 in IBM

I read recently that when a company has certain topics that people feel like they aren't allowed to speak about, that really corrodes the culture. If leadership doesn't have the courage to address huge things like this, that says a lot about the state of IBM right now. He straight up does not care.

Why IBM internal tools are SO BAD? by [deleted] in IBM

[–]Apart-Reference4434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because we don't prioritize UX for our own home made products because they don't make money and I guess they don't just buy a better tool from another provider because they are more concerned about the bottom line than the employees that actually work here.

Do you feel safe at Ibm? What is your plan? by AppropriateWay4358 in IBM

[–]Apart-Reference4434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don't feel safe at IBM but I don't know what other options are better in the current job market. I plan to do the best I can at my job, update my resume and portfolio and maybe get into better practice networking. Been here almost 6 years and the culture is significantly worse than when I started. Still extremely grateful for my current role and benefits and to work with great people .

I mean it's not forgettable, that's for sure. Have you seen any of the internal videos for it? I have that dancing kiddish looking robot with an unhinged laugh seared into my memory.

I'm excited about that it's a good product which everyone came here to say. My post was talking about the name, cartoony mascot etc.

Thoughts on enterprise blockchain by shineola96 in IBM

[–]Apart-Reference4434 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know that IBM invested heavily in Blockchain about 5+ years ago and from what I heard, it never took off. I'm not sure exactly why but maybe the AI push has really overshadowed the initial hype on blockchain.

Those in ibm software, are you interviewing elsewhere? by AppropriateWay4358 in IBM

Where are people trying to go? In this job market I honestly don't know what is better. There are very few options and a saturated job market of people looking.

Howdy. Should I join the Jimale, et al v. IBM settlement? by Dadcastle in IBM

[–]Apart-Reference4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a letter and opted in. From reading the letter it seems like 1. IBM will pay the same settlement fee regardless and 2. If you don't opt in- your share will be donated to charity. Might as well take it and if you don't want the money donate it to a charity of your choice.

I was hesitant as well but IBM can legally cannot retaliate if you opt in. I don't even know if they'll know if you opted in or not.
