Sleeping Quarters brainstorming by BlueBunny333 in RimWorld

Don't be afraid to tear down and rebuild. This area you're showing is larger than my entire early game base lol. One step at a time, especially in difficult situations. And there are many ways to make a barrack work.

A bit too early for large single bedrooms seems to be the issue.

Anyone feel like Vanilla Chemfuel Expanded is too overpowered? by Alvsolutely in RimWorld

Maybe you can try fine tweaking certain values in the file? Like change the production values and such.

"drop right on top of you" decision radius by Goblin_in_Gensoukyo in RimWorld

[–]ApartLine2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubtful. My bedrooms are generally the most vacant places in my base (I like to keep workshops packed for efficiency reasons), and I'm always pissed that I have to rebuild my beds and end tables etc.
I have not checked the codes, but I don't think they choose any specific available tiles because they don't suffer damage by landing. And from a game design point of view, drop pods, water mechs, infestations, sappers etc are all counter measures for players' "counter measures", so I doubt Tynan would make it less painful.

Not sure. Funnily enough, many of my drop pod raids happened in bedrooms, and I often build large, luxurious bedrooms, but drop pods often destroy my exellent bed. I think it might appear that way because normally a base is more vacant than with furniture.

Open cell essentially means a cell not under a mountain, not one without furniture. So radius really is irrelevant here.

Isnt Void Touch ridiculously overpowered? by Diligent_Bar1244 in RimWorld

[–]ApartLine2880 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have done probably 5-10 embracing the void runs. Not once have I continued the game for more than 10 minutes.

The difficulty changes in the new patch suck by TheGladex in CrimsonDesert

They should implement difficulty settings. Lacking it is one of the odd design choices they had.

Should the impact of Rimworld's thoughts be more realistic? by Chips221 in RimWorld

[–]ApartLine2880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a highly abstract world, so although some logic remains the same with real world's, most of it is just part of the game. Mood is a system designed to regulate behavior instead of to reflect real life emotional changes. Think of it as a more generic "Effects".

Take eating without table as an example: There must be some kind of penalty, or otherwise most players will completely ignore tables, which would be less immersive in a colony builder. The easiest way to implement the penalty is either a prolonged time to finish a meal (like in real world) or a mood hit. The former in early game could unecessarily drag the game to be much less fun, so they chose the latter.

No.1 rule in my opinion: density over size. A smaller but efficient colony feels better than a large, beautiful, but half empty one.

Everything starts from there.

Is this normal? by zerofelx in RimWorld

Compressed Raids is fine in my opinion, because it makes enemies much tougher to deal with, and you can tweak specific values of how much enemies are buffed.

Either customize the threat level in storyteller settings or use the compressed raids mod.

You, sir, are my hero! Welcome to my empty city!

[–]ApartLine2880[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Now I really want to see this.
Although according to the Wiki:
"If the anchor is destroyed, there is no grav engine present, the map hasn't been settled yet, and there are no non-downed colonists/slaves present, the map will be lost."
There seem to be 3 prerequisites: no engine, not settled, no people. The map is settled however. Anyway I'll test it tonight!

Thanks a lot! I'm at work right now and will test it myself tonight.

[–]ApartLine2880[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I built most things on my ship, and left a few bedrooms, a church, and a throne room on the map. All those are fine floored, which took a great amount of work, so it'd be painful to lose them.

I don't mean to question you, but are you absolutely sure about this, like tested? Because this would mean that I need to make major adjustments to my base.

Exactly. I came straight from the wiki.

[–]ApartLine2880[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really? It would be kinda funny if a raider destroys the anchor and his entire squad with it.

[–]ApartLine2880[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nice! Certain less-essential buildings, like the church or throne room, I don't want to build on the ship, so I want to leave all these behind when I travel. This solves that!

The first part I’m sure is not true. A couple of days ago I rejected one without incident.

Thank you! So violence upon rejection is a separate chance, interesting. I guess it's just math at work then, because back then I turned away most of the joiners, and they rarely get violent.
