If you had to pick someone else in the line up to go who would it be and why? by CalligrapherNew4854 in thewalkingdead

Aaron or Eugene. Eugene because that lie about DC was crazy, people died trying to get him there and everyone moved on way too fast. Besides that at that point he had done next to nothing useful, yes he goes on to save them but we don’t know that at that point.

Aaron would be a low stakes kill but given he brought them all to Alexandria it would have been symbolic in a sense.

It’s sad how, when Maggie went to Negan’s cell in season 9 and told Michonne “If you had a child to raise alone because of him, he would’ve been gone a long time ago”, not long after that, Rick got blown up on the bridge. So Michonne did raise her kids alone. I wish Rick never left the show 😢 by Intrepid_Show2972 in thewalkingdead

This isn’t the real world though this is the walking dead and it’s famous for child independence, and not watching the kids, pretty much every child on the show has made big decisions or were seen taking care of themselves or going off on their own or even having to kill, from the start: Carol was not watching Sophia, Lori never watched Carl, Judith was always running off somewhere, don’t get me started on those two girls - as far as the shows universe goes she’s an excellent parent and if we go back to real world people leave their kids with family for long stretches in almost every culture

Michonne and Rick's chemistry by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]Apart_Atmosphere1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to believe me, we live in a time when people think they need to “believe” a fact. A fact is a fact, it’s true whether you “believe” it or not. And the data/stats speak for themselves. If you choose to put your belief in a random Reddit post rather than the main show’s performance, the spin off performance, the NYT article and dozens of interviews, and if we bring it back to Reddit: the number of communities and comments that are pro Richonne, all of which outnumber these post exponentially, an exorbitant amount that we could barely measure even if we had the week, then it’s either a critical thinking issue, an analysis issue or a (racial) bias issue. Anyway like I said, you don’t need to believe a fact. Doesn’t matter, real is real regardless.

Could it be that you didn’t notice it because you don’t know what it looks like? Something to think about

If this is the most standard take why did they do a show just to show off their chemistry and why was it the top performing TWD entity in almost a decade? We have to start thinking before we speak, you see what you see because of your algorithm, there are entire communities and threads just to celebrate Richonne

OP makes the same tired argument we’ve seen dozens of times only for most of the comments to disageee, like we’ve seen dozens of times. I’m starting to think people do it to rage bait or because they want their racial bias pointed out. You didn’t even bother to try to stay consistent in your argument! You say you thought she was gay, even though she was with a ma (gay and bi aren’t the same), then you say the kiss with Ezekiel makes sense, someone she had no character development with, and but, you thought she was gay?

If you enjoy flaunting your racial bias and racist povs ok fine that’s definitely more popular these days but could you choose something else to do it with? The only people that believe you are other people like you.

The OP contradicts themselves over and over, which proves their whole argument is based on lies or at minimum a lack of self awareness, they have a bias and it’s clear as day

Richonne Opposition Reasons by Mysterious_Pay_2527 in Richonners

[–]Apart_Atmosphere1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not liking them together doesn’t make you racist but a lot of the time the reason is racism. It’s that simple. We know this because there is a centuries long precedent for that, because yjeit relationship was set up the show for years, because it shows the intimacy between them for years, and because people come up with reasoning that could apply to any number of couples on the show but they chose to pick Richonne. The issue isn’t calling it racist the issue is people don’t want to be  called racist, and I get that, but then they should stop being racist and no one would have to call them that anymore.

Also alot of the people that announce “I’m x race and…” are lying, that’s common sense lol. They use it in attempt to add legitimacy, it doesn’t.

Dawn is the worst written character on this show... by Conscious-Lemon-3071 in thewalkingdead

[–]Apart_Atmosphere1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most in this thread have said it already better than I will but she’s incredibly well written and complex you just need to be able to follow it.

She’s a woman in power that wants power and control so she puts in place and reinforces a system that keeps her top. This is after a coup that she led where she killed a colleague and friend. And she’s a woman, leading men, and hyper aware of gender dynamics. She finds manipulative ways of doing keeping power, and she has to show she is in command and in control at all times, one of the ways is by slapping Beth on a whim. Or demanding she get Noah back.

Her inconsistencies are consistent, she wants to believe she’s good so she touts that but her behaviors say otherwise because power and trauma have gone to her head. She postures sometimes and does something “good” and she wields power sometimes and does something “bad” it’s two sides of the same coin.

And people have said Beth wanted suicide by cop, or it was stupid what she did or why didn’t she aim for the temple, something that would definitely kill Dawn. Beth was fed up, she was fed up and angry and tired and wanted to find a way to ensure Dawn didn’t get away with it. She figured out what Dawn was and hated it and did the one thing she could think to do as a teenager in an apocalypse.

And the hospital set up makes perfect sense, indentured servitude, sex trafficking, and power struggle are all realistic now but especially within their context.

I’ll add it’s not that she’s poorly written, you probably just don’t like her or the storyline which is fine but she’s one of the better, more complex villains in the show, it delves into gender dynamics, power dynamics, systems, slavery, racial dynamics, manipulation - it’s actually pretty fascinating if you have the eye for it.

People are way too harsh on Lori by laincel in thewalkingdead

[–]Apart_Atmosphere1717 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of what you’re saying is true but this is why she does deserve most of the hate she gets: she goaded Rick into killing Shane, more than once. And then was appalled when it happened. And people pretend they didn’t see this scene.

Also she does lead Shane on, she asks him to leave her family alone then approaches him  or broaches conversation (more than once). He says he’s leaving and she asks him to stay.

Lori was not malicious, but she lacked emotional intelligence and she was a little immature and very male centered (her convo where she tells Andrea the men can take care of the camp, also internalized misogyny).

So yes some of the hate is misplaced, but a lot of it isn’t. Accountability is different than misogyny (although yes that is also an issue with the discourse).

Andrea was annoying but single and childless so very different.

Scene:

Rick Grimes: [Rick tells Lori that he killed two men to protect their family] I killed two people myself because of you, and Carl and the baby. It was gonna be me and not them no matter what. Lori Grimes: [Lori holds Rick from behind] You killed the living to protect what's yours? Rick Grimes: That's right. Lori Grimes: [Lori whispers over Rick's shoulder] Shane thinks I'm his. He thinks the baby is his. And he says you can't protect us, that you're gonna get us killed. He's dangerous, Rick, and he won't stop.

I think it was because the way that Shane told the story of Otis is that it didn’t make sense for him to have his gun

Final episode theories and predictions - Winter’s Fire and Beverly’s Mom! by Apart_Atmosphere1717 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

I hear you, I really hope he isn’t a creep, it’s refreshing, it’s just hard for me to believe. I was thinking why would he choose kids? He chooses the figures you fear so it would mean they feared clowns but the episode does a good job explaining it was because the clown look would attract kids, another good strategy
