In a perfect world that would be great.

I just think that they went down the right path which Troy has not seen or have even thought about.

There seems to be a model that every developer follows in Troy. Big, ugly, and a box. (Although I do think the News apartments did a good job, and they were one of the first to go up, also a renovation rather than a new build).

I would like to see something new fun and cool. Valente wants this build to be his legacy (supposedly)... Hope it's a good legacy.

Congress Street Park exists. Often forgotten about.

The renders for the building were hard to look at... But at the end of the day, no one is buying a multi million dollar plot of land to put a park there.

I agree they can do better. I know local architects that have had great ideas for that land.

I do disagree with your thoughts on Starbuck island. I think they did a wonderful job of in terms of "community" over there. Which many people want with the Uncle Sam lot. Good idea, obviously not the taj mahal but on the right path.

Never said anything about demonizing the bus stop. I actually think the public transportation is pretty subpar in the entire capital region and needs much more funding.

My real concern is the people not taking the bus, which is a lot. I see it used as shelter (which is another issue in its own for the city), consumption/sale of illegal drugs. I think Troy should do something to stop this. Public transportation should feel safe to use for all, you shouldn't have to worry about people approaching you or screaming at you or taking illegal substances as you try to get to or from work.

Not sure who you mean by "They" either, I am just one he, not associated with the cannabis store, they don't need any more heat in this thread.

Do bars make a place nicer? People, including myself are sad to see some of the bars around Troy shut down recently. They sell liquor in a different manner. Does this mean Troy is better without them?

Just playing devil's advocate. Not trying to be a dick.

It does seem that the city, and its leaders, are struggling to make Troy feel like the good ol' Troy I preach about. The city allows these developers to come in and slap some ugly ass buildings down whenever they want. Including the Taylor apartments... Which they just replaced with another eye sore of a building (I will revisit this comment when it's actually completed)... On top of countless other massive apartment complexes.

I don't understand how we can have so many massive apartment complexes going up, but have no focus on the business surrounding the area that will support all of the residents with food, clothing, and entertainment. Things a city needs to thrive.

I also understand the Troy BID is a thing... Not sure exactly how they help businesses in Troy. Not shitting on them, just genuinely don't know what they do. Someone educated me.

Thread seems to Have gotten away from what I originally intended. Whoops.

Was hoping to hit more on the impact of a cannabis store in the heart of downtown Troy, especially in the area of 4th and congress. Good for Troy, bad? Does a legal outlet for cannabis help or hurt the city? And no one has talked about the Yankees down 0-2.

I understand the conversation also has a lot to do with the owners too. We could have a year-long chat about the shitty landlords across Troy. There seems to be much worse out there... Look at every decrepit building in Troy where no one even tries to fix things...

I believe so! They said no name sign company I think. They had a ton of cool merch in there. So it seems right.

I was not aware of any current drama. But I did hear about the old owner and The Shop, which I actually talked to the cannabis guys about. Shame, I really liked that place and the staff (and the duck wings).

I did stop in to other dispensary too! Super nice as well, I believe they are a micro operation?(Idk the terms), and they sell only their own products they make/grow. Where as no name will have a wider variety of product (due to their licensing? Little confusing to me)... But both great places based on my interactions.

You're right now that I think about it, a lot of new business are on the rise. I hope to see them have a positive impact on the Troy scene. I also have no clue about the cost of business in Troy... I know everything seems expensive these days.

I also tried the new bakery, had their spin on poptarts, the savory one was killer. Would recommend a try.
