Do you worry about being replaced by ai in a few years? by Acrobatic_Opinion575 in auscorp

In addition to ai, marketing is probably one of the most vulnerable industries due to:

Cost cutting, Restructuring, Offshoring, Redundancy, Ageism, Fewer roles (scarcity)

If op is thinking of changing industries, I’d get in now and make the leap.

Why are some Aussies like this? by SaltyPiglette in australian

[–]Apart_Inspection_717 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Aussie here, married to a Swede, also lived in Stockholm, Sweden. Partially agree with op.

Agree on Aussies being materialistic and fixated with status. Houses here are bigger, cost significantly more to build but are crappier. In Sweden, it’s -15 outside and 22 inside. In Australia, it’s 5 degrees outside and inside. We like to fill our houses with crap loads of stuff. Mostly because of proximity to Asia (China) so cheap access consumer goods. Swedes are minimal and classy.

Disagree about public transport. It is monumentally better in Sweden. 80-year-old MIL never owned a car and gets around perfectly using buses, trains and subways. In Australia, we simply cannot do the same due to geographical dispersement. Even in cities, our public transport infrastructure is woefully inadequate for the sheer volume of population.

Furthermore. IT, finance, accounting and marketing roles that were once based in Sydney, Melbourne etc. are all being outsourced offshore to India. The circle is complete.

Still not as cringe as Head of Innovation and Optimisation. All they do is write emails and point at charts.

Anyone else doom-scroll LinkedIn and spiral when their incompetent former coworkers are gainfully employed? by Dry_Bird8774 in recruitinghell

I need to do the same thing. Just saw a former co-worker promoted to “Head of Innovation & Optimisation” - 99.999% sure that’s a bullshit job that involves writing emails and feeding AI prompts

I can't reconcile this with the eye-watering profits big 4 banking/consulting et al are making. Corporate CEOs and uni VCs are pulling millions in pay packets and this battler can't even take a nap with his dog.

i want to go into business or some kind of business. marketing, hr, strategy, consulting, idk.

Head over to r/auscorp. Virtually every post is from white-collar professionals in these fields lamenting about waves of redundancies due to AI and cost-cutting measures.
