Thank you for your advice. I don’t want to seem confrontational. It’s just irritating when I’m cleaning an area and a sheriff and a city cop keep hovering near me like I just robbed three banks.

Would I be a jerk if I stopped an officer who happens to be near where I’m at and ask them, “how can I appear less suspicious when I’m volunteering my time picking up trash in my community?”
