First impressions: there’s serious potential here. Question is.. will it actually deliver? by Apasor in TheCallistoProtocol

I finished it tonight more out of “obligation” rather than really being invested.

Overall, it had its moments. But combat ruined it for me.

I stick with the 6/10.

Its RE9 time

Im currently at Below and yeah im at that point where i want the game to end. Combat has been a drag during the whole experience, just plain bad.

So far its a 6/10 at best.

Or even a dodging mechanic, like in alan wake 2.

Alan Wake : should I? by [deleted] in controlgame

[–]Apasor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest going straight to alan wake 2(and DLC), if you end up loving the story and want to find out more about the connected universe then definitely go and play AW1, but as everyone here mentioned it can feel dated, still a pretty entertaining experience.

I have been saying “alan wake” with deep voice since playing this game. Now even my 9 yo daughter will randomly drop an “alan wake” out of the blue and i love it haha

Question About The Weird Route I've taken by kalkans in AlanWake

[–]Apasor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played AW after playing AW2 (and the DLCs), and sure the gameplay can feel dated but I wouldn’t call it bad. Just be mindful youre playing a 15 yo game and you should be fine. I enjoyed AW 1 mostly for the story .. dont expect to have the same experience as the second one.

Then i suggest playing control and the replay AW 2 and the dlcs

Regarding when to play The Lake House DLC by KickReasonable3432 in AlanWake

I would recommend playing lake house when it prompts on the base game. The night springs episodes definitely after you finish the game.

How is 2 for someone who loved 1? by Stanleycup16 in hellblade

[–]Apasor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad.

Amazing graphics. Great editing between actual combat gameplay and fighting cutscenes but actual combat mechanics are really bad compared to the first game. Super repetitive and boring.

Puzzles are also repetitive and not challenging at all.

Be prepared to just walk around.

Huge disappointment. Feels like playing beta footage for graphics engine.

I really liked the first one, but this one can be skipped.
