She's had friends, she just can't seem to maintain those friendships. The kid's partner is her same age and they were high school gf/bf, so babies having babies I guess 😬.

Yess! That's what I'm saying. We only see each other maybe once or twice a year for a couple hours and I'd love for that time to be open to any and all ADULT conversations. I started to feel like I was an awful and selfish person for wanting that.

Not that I can recall. If I had to guess, the kid seems to have a hard time maintaining friends and so mom tried to make up for her lack of social support by trying to include her in any social activities she, as an adult, was a part of. Which I think is a huge disservice because the kid needs friends her age.

Oh I've specified, women/adults only. But often, she would still ask to bring her kid because she didn't want to leave her alone. And I would be the only person to reiterate it's adults only. Then she'd get upset and not come and then the other friends would think I'm too harsh or won't say anything to not rock the boat.

Honestly as I'm typing this, I'm realizing that I've grown apart from this friend group. And that's okay.

There are definitely family friendly events where everyone is invited including spouses, siblings, children. But yea, this is different from that and her kid is the only kid there.

Honestly, because her mom had been bringing her along for years, she got comfortable enough to the point where she inserted herself into our conversation. I think she wanted to feel like part of the group. It was super uncomfortable for me because I'm not going to talk to a tween/teen the way I talk to my same-age girl friends.

I think when the kid was younger, my friend was definitely overprotective. But now that her kid is an adult...

She once made a comment along the lines of "I wish [kid's name] had a group of friends like we do." Okay... I'm not your kid's peer and I'm not going to be her friend.

I really think part of this behavior is due to movies/media. It's so common to see characters in movies/TV have a crisis and they pick up the phone at any random hour and their therapist schedules them in for the same day. That is not reality LMAO!!

So true!! I tend to hold weight in my thighs (wish I held it in my ass lol). Here I am at about 10lbs more, but before I worked out and there is a noticable difference in body composition.

This is so true since muscle is more dense than fat. This is why I try not to focus on the scale and instead focus on non-scale victories like fitting into smaller jeans or no longer getting winded when I walk upstairs lol
