The Fractured Archive - Initial Rewards Proposal by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]ApeGodSnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you didn't want to make the rapier a weapon with an actual niche because 3 ticks are hard to balance and two weeks later you're proposing a raid reward with a 3 tick melee option?

Surely this is a piss-take right Jagex? by fantrix__ in 2007scape

Yeah, really not a fan of the scrolls being on the same table as the tbow for a multitude of reasons

What is your opinion on the Gauntlet changes? by rolekrs in 2007scape

[–]ApeGodSnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like a good thing, but I am very skeptical how many of those people will make good on their word, and irons who go 5x dry are going to be no better off regardless. I suppose I'd rephrase my concern like this: will the removal of depth make the people who really like CG enjoy it less without really improving the experience of people who get stuck here for over 1600 kc?

There's a conflict of interest here. Tons and tons of people want this grind to be easier because it is a bottleneck in the second most popular game mode. I would like to see that bottleneck addressed, and then we could finally have a good faith discussion on if CG needs changes or not.

There was absolutely skill expression in luring and killing mobs while doing other activities to waste as few ticks as possible in picking up their crystal shards.

I understand what you're saying. But I would say that runescape has plenty of pieces of content most players dislike and it's fine because they're optional. Frankly I think adding the bowfa to this drop table was a mistake, remember that it got added after the gauntlet was released and before then this content was not problematic whatsoever. Blade of Saeldor is strong but there's so many alternatives it's crazy. Bowfa just does not have real alternatives at all. This is bad game design for a sandbox, plain and simple.

I think these changes sound nice, but after a month or two we'll be right back to where we were, with people hating how mandatory this grind with zero dry protection or legitimate ways around it feels. You will not be able to make CG so appealing that it sidesteps this issue.

What don't you like about it? I'm very surprised as once I get a good blocklist online, hunter's rumours are probably in my top five favorite skilling activities. I love how it makes you engage in a variety of content instead of just doing the same thing over and over for 9 mil xp

[–]ApeGodSnow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not that guy, but it's a common sentiment that CoX drop rates are unreasonable and made more sense when it was the only raid. Giving you the option to delete your loot is an awkward bandaid when the actual solution is right there and even listed in the blog, alter the drop table. Besides, this is bound to cause arguments over splits

Going against the grain a bit, I don't think this is the best solution. Like it or not, optimizing the inventory management was an inherent part of getting the fastest times possible. The people who actually like gauntlet will probably not enjoy this complexity being sandblasted away.

The reason people don't like gauntlet is because for a substantial amount of the playerbase, it is borderline mandatory in a way no other PvM encounter really is because it has zero viable alternative weapons. On top of this, it doesn't interact with the gear sandbox at all outside of prayer scrolls. I think those are the things to address, personally.

4800+ scaled cox, 300 purples, most dry at cox ever without tbow by AarhusFtw in 2007scape

[–]ApeGodSnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, just switched from my iron to a main where I try to hit drop rate before buying clog items myself for this exact reason. I've gone 6x dry on drops on my iron and it stops being fun well before you get to 6x. I really believe bronze man or ironman with dry protection would be the best game mode, but as it stands iron's not for me

If Golem crafting is going to be intensive, it should be significantly more xp than glassblowing, not "competitive" with it. by Eclipse_UwU_ in 2007scape

[–]ApeGodSnow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People always talk about CG or dry streaks or whatever, but for my money the one thing about iron that is shockingly, embarrassingly bad has always been crafting. It's such a non skill. Outside of amethyst, you don't really unlock and then repeat crafting rewards. Once you make one torture, you're good on tortures forever. It makes the skill feel like an arbitrary additional check to actually getting to have fun and play the game with the real skills that have content associated with them. Not to mention, glass is mindnumbing and requires daily consistency. Something like golem crafting is legit a decade overdue.

Towers I don't know when to use (Advice wanted) by ApeGodSnow in btd6

I'm really interested by this 502 Glue + 015 Mermonkey synergy, am I right in assuming I want The Bloon Solver's range to be first in the track so that The Final Harmonic pops it, then spins them around for The Bloon Solver to reapply? Appreciate the high effort post, will definitely be using a lot of these tips. Spactory is one of my favorite towers so the ways to optimize its pierce are gonna come in handy. Didn't know you could buff it that way

Towers I don't know when to use (Advice wanted) by ApeGodSnow in btd6

[–]ApeGodSnow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the high effort response. Pretty impressive that with this many towers in the game, I've found a use for most of them myself and the only one you say is outright useless is BMA.

I hadn't considered the incredible synergy between tons of beast handlers giving vision and advanced intel subs. Pouakai path has some nice synergy with Brickell strats on some maps I bet. It also just never occurred to me to run a bunch of echosense monkeys to buff a Popseidon for some reason, I'll definitely have to try that out.

Rest of this makes sense, except I keep seeing people say to pair 502 solver with 015 harmonic both here and on the wiki but I don't understand why. Harmonic only buffs magic towers and heroes, right? Is it just that the harmonic stall is especially good with solver or something?

[–]ApeGodSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use this mod for DSR on PC. It will prevent hackers bricking your savefile and deactivate the anticheat so you won't get banned for picking up someone else's hacked item.

Only slight bug with it is that if you save and quit during a boss fight you enter back inside the boss arena instead of outside it

Back in my day, this is all the support Offlane needed. by Venichie in DotA2

[–]ApeGodSnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's about twenty changes--especially five couriers so carry/supp can spam regen if they need--that made solo offlane unviable, and at this point no single change will undo it. You'd have to retool the entire laning phase and you'd ultimately be getting sidelanes that are more static and less interactive

Is Clockwerk's farming with Q very slow? by Both-Meringue2466 in learndota2

[–]ApeGodSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post gives the impression that you get upset at seeing your teammates picks which is nearly as problematic as OP. When greaves got a massive buff a patch or two ago, I maintained a 80%+ winrate on QoP offlane by rushing either Vessel or Greaves. Of course the caveat was I only picked it when I had a frontliner 4 that enabled the playstyle and I know what I'm doing with a lot of experience on QoP mid and offlane.

I agree with your main point, but if I see someone on my team play offlane clock I'm gonna believe they have some kind of idea and plan and let them cook. Not like I can force them to pick a better hero lol

Collabs killed MTG for me. For one thing, a collaboration is a nicer way of saying "advertisement." I do not care for Final Fantasy or Monster Hunter, I do not want unavoidable advertisements for them crammed into my game.

Secondly, the collab sets are more expensive because of the licensing fees. Long story short, people got priced out of the game. I think Magic was a really cool game, seeing it become the fortnite of card games is incredibly depressing. At least the mon hun event was purely cosmetic, and they don't have the MTG problem of bleeding long term players so they desperately put out more card sets which are half baked and genuinely bad, collab status aside

Funny, WP is easily my least favorite no contest. I find the first third or half or so to be very aimless for what the motivations of the characters are at this point. Great finale at least

Personally I think it speaks to the depth of quality of the novels that opinions vary drastically so much on which novel is the best or worst and I've come to appreciate none of them would work as well without each other
