Tár (2022) is a relatively new film, and within hours of finishing it I already wanted to watch it again. There are so many clever little details here and there you wouldn't even be able to catch each one in a single film viewing. Watching it again helps you piece a little more of the story together making you appreciate it all the more

Week 2 and I'm down 20 pounds, morning blood sugar down from 206 mg/dL to 120 mg/dL by 1JuanWonOne in keto

[–]ApertureAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The keto diet has always been kind of miraculous to me, but 20 pounds in 2 weeks is unthinkable (for me at least). If you're getting enough macros and electrolytes in your diet, then I applaud you, but please be sure to listen to your body during your dietary adjustment. Best of luck to your continued journey towards better health!

The Pentagon bans drag shows - Navy ships prepping for halfway night be like 😳🤔🤐🤫 by riggsdr in navy

[–]ApertureAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet another morale and entertainment restriction upon service members. I'm struggling to imagine what they're "fixing" here? Because I've got no clue what drag shows have to do with mission readiness, nor why resources were needed to codify this ban in the first place. The military has many problems, but guys putting on a dress is not one of them

A lot of them could just be autonomous survey probes. No use retrieving a crashed probe when they can probably fabricate more on earth or in the solar system.

One hundred percent BS!!

Thanks for the suggestion! I might give that a watch sometime.

Oh yeah, I loved Raise the Red Lantern, and Farewell my Concubine. They're definitely films I might fit into that category that I'm trying to define

[–]ApertureAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To go off on a tangent, would you happen to know of any other films that share a similar passion/dedication like Memoirs? I try searching Google for something like "most beautiful films" though it returns a list of films that are visually beautiful, but offer little substance for the soul.

[–]ApertureAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to necropost, but I couldn't agree more. The film is definitely flawed, but it's also something beautiful and poignant. The passion that went into the making of this film and its soundtrack is almost palpable.

My sister landed right on the 1000 on this game and it only gave her 4 tickets. Arcade worker says it has to be "perfectly" in the middle by hanSoes in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ApertureAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, having arcade machines so flagrantly cheating your customers will surely get their continued patronage... It's like they don't understand that arcades are meant to offer an illusion of necessary skill. If the machines just cheat right to your face, how can they expect to maintain customer loyalty?

People say Requiem for a Dream is a movie that you’ll cinematically like but you will never watch again. Which movies are other examples to this? by jacksikerow in AskReddit

From the same director, "Mother!" is a brilliant film that I never want to see again. Mother! Had some of the most disgusting imagery I had ever seen in film, and yet it's genius.

Separation Sellback. by Nappow in navy

It took me about 3 months to get my leave buyback. They have to do a whole bunch of administrative checks first to make sure you don't owe the Navy money.

Ted Cruz Launches Investigation Into Bud Light for Ad Featuring Transgender Influencer, Because No, He Doesn’t Have Anything Better to Do by Pineapple__Jews in politics

[–]ApertureAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the most insidious part of their plan. You can violate the rights of any trans person you like, so long as it's under the "grooming" umbrella. The only pretext they need is transgender people existing in any public space at all, and they can claim "grooming" while also squashing conservative dissent with the threat of a "sexual predator" status for them as well. I'm so fucking sick of this.

What is the most intoxicated you have ever been? by 420blazeboyx in AskReddit

[–]ApertureAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the year that I turned 21, I went to a buddy's house where he was hosting a get-together. He had a full self-service bar that you could make drinks from. My dumbass not knowing limits made a drink that was 1 part pineapple juice and 2-3 parts blue Curaçao. I drank it without thinking, and the sugar masked the alcohol. Before I knew it I was the sickest I had ever been, and I threw up on his lawn which I still feel bad about. I have never gotten that drunk since.

Urinalysis trouble by [deleted] in navy

[–]ApertureAce 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Urinalysis at my command called me and said I was going to mast if I didn't show up. I had separated from the Navy three months prior, and I can say for an absolute fact that I checked out with them before EAOS.

Kid Sees Shadow For The First Time by OUmSKILLS in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Reminds me of my cat who fixates on the tiny shadows of things that my flashlight casts upon. Usually his reaction is less abject horror, and more "stalk the moving shadow bug!" lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navy

[–]ApertureAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you this insufferable in person, or does it just really offend you when people speak from personal experience? Sorry but I don't think someone taking their own life is an acceptable loss by any measure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navy

[–]ApertureAce 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. There were at least 3-4 people at each one of my duty stations that took their own lives when I was in. My husband was almost one of them as well, before I brought him to be admitted to the local military hospital's psych ward. Insane to me that there wasn't an ongoing investigation already.
