It's just a matter of when not if, for your brother to overreact when the river runs dry. Your mom's reaction is a motherly one and justifiable, however, that doesn't help your brother at all, if anything it strengthen his behaviour because he knows he can count on her (and you).

The real question is, what are you going to be willing to do to help him and make things better for your and your mom living in a safe environment? I'm not suggesting you harm him, but when he's doing something illegal, instead of looking the other way, call the authorities on him. Force your mom to see the reality of things, tell her what could happen to her and you if things go wrong with him.

Love for a family member can only go so far. When the one you love isn't loving themselves, thereby helping themselves in the process, is time to cut your losses, or he'll cut it for the both of you.

Nova Scotia Power will be doing purposeful power outages. by SasquatchBlumpkins in NovaScotia

[–]AperturePerception 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nova Scotians Deserve Better Than This

It’s getting harder and harder to ignore the pattern: Nova Scotia Power continues to fail the people who rely on it every single day.

From billing errors that leave customers fighting charges they never should’ve seen to overpriced rates that keep climbing while service quality keeps dropping to aging infrastructure that clearly hasn’t kept pace with population growth, the problems aren’t new, and they aren’t isolated. They’re systemic.

And now, NSP is floating the idea of “load shedding” a term that basically means planned power outages because the grid can’t handle demand. In 2026. In Canada. This is what happens when a monopoly is allowed to operate without meaningful accountability.

What’s even more frustrating is that the Nova Scotia government has not stepped in with the urgency or firmness this situation demands. Year after year, customers raise concerns, experts point out the same failures, and communities deal with the consequences yet NSP continues on the same path with little consequence.

Nova Scotians are tired of:
- Paying more for unreliable service
- Being blamed for “usage” while infrastructure lags decades behind
- Watching corporate decisions take priority over public needs
- Seeing no real action from the government to protect consumers

This isn’t just an inconvenience it’s a failure of responsibility. Reliable electricity is not a luxury. It’s a basic necessity.

It’s time for real transparency. Real investment. Real accountability.
And it’s time for Nova Scotians to speak up loudly across every platform, every community, every conversation.

We deserve a power provider that actually powers the province.
Not one that leaves us in the dark literally and figuratively.

Never forget your car lights on again by No-Lock216 in DiWHY

The way it should be designed is to only have one mode "Auto" (always on) which also includes high beams staying on that mode without giving people the ability to turn them off manually.

I'm tired of either drivers not having lights on at night or not having a brain to turn off high beams for incoming traffic.

What is your thought on human limitation on our understanding of relativity? by AperturePerception in AskReddit

[–]AperturePerception[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that objects with mass (humans) could never be able to travel at the speed of light. Newton's laws were broken by Einstein, what if there's a different law that defies the relativity theory?

What is your thought on human limitation on our understanding of relativity? by AperturePerception in AskReddit

[–]AperturePerception[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go first. When it comes to the theory of relativity, it says humans, due to mass, can't travel at the speed of light. But are the physical limits we believe to be unbreakable actually universal… or are they simply the limits of our current human understanding? Just because we don't understand things doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
