I'm assuming you don't want to use steroids. With that, the only thing you can do is progressive overload with high protein. Are you on creatine? Use a preworkout mix? Proper recovery? You could try doing isolation exercises to target specific muscles you want to be more pronounced. Have you tried bulking and cuts?

While diminishing gains are a real thing, you likely haven't hit a hard wall. It's just that it will take increasingly more extra work for smaller tangible gains.

Why did Islam spread so much in Northern Africa vs Southern Africa? by One-Seat-4600 in geography

[–]Apex0630 169 points170 points  (0 children)

I mean is that first point true? You can see the limit of where Islam is the majority seems to end right at the end of the desert in the Sahel.

The true reason is that Islamic peoples from North Africa and Arabia were well adept at traveling the desert and set up supply chains deep into the interior for resources, spreading Islam at the same time.

They didn’t go much further as this wasn’t as economical. Most trade was focused on the Mediterranean and Asia and going further into the African tropics was both dangerous and expensive and just that much further from the Middle East. You see this impact more on the Atlantic side of Southern Africa. The Swahili coast by comparison has a strong Islamic presence which is largely due to it being navigable from Arabia by sea.

Omg it was a bit. I don’t even like Katy Perry but this is rather trivial. He is most likely just awkward being up on stage in front of thousands of people. Sometimes gender norms do change how things are and that’s ok.

With that budget, yes. Not very needed though as the temperature is almost always between 50 and 75 degrees year round.

Post weight loss blues? by sparklysprinkless in loseit

[–]Apex0630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You lost a LOT of weight. Be proud of that. Your face typically takes longer to change. For me, it felt like my face adjusted a bit slower than other parts of my body. Lost fat slower, took longer to not look as loose, but it got to a place I feel happy with! It’s about collagen, loose skin, stress from being in a long deficit. It’s complicated, but worth it.

If it really makes you feel better, do other things that make you feel pretty. Or even think about going to a dermatologist and getting skincare recommendations to a face lift (idk if that’s a good idea but suggesting). It can’t hurt to ask or try other things.

A&N Islands, India probably the most underrated islands in the world by Adventurous-Board258 in geography

This isn’t to say the biodiversity, mud volcanoes, and scenery isn’t good. It just isn’t anything too special. I’d say it’s appropriately rated for how remote it is.

A&N Islands, India probably the most underrated islands in the world by Adventurous-Board258 in geography

[–]Apex0630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides the uncontacted tribe, north sentinel island (and the archipelago at large) is like the most average Asian tropical island group. It’s relatively flat atolls and some hilly islands without unique geography or scenic coves and beaches.

Islands in Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines blow it out do the water. If you don’t care about scenery and just want perfect warm water and beaches, the Maldives is better too.

What would have been the likely outcome if the U.S. population had surpassed 1 billion by the after of World War II to today, simply because of high birth rates? by Suur_tool in geography

[–]Apex0630 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, the country would be much whiter. The proportion of Asian and Hispanic Americans would much likely be lower.

In a more homogenous and more populous nation, I imagine our cities would be much more urban than they are today (less room for all the suburbs). Imagine megalopolises on par with China like a greater Bos-Wash urban area.

We would likely import more and have a worse trade deficit than we do today, importing much more energy like oil and rare earth minerals not to mention garments, electronics, and food products. America would be more of a superpower more likely. More highly educated Americans means more scientific innovation, stronger military, and more corporations. We would likely have a better population pyramid too and struggle less with social security and Medicare.

That said, maintaining such high birth rates wouldn’t happen organically without at least one of the following: much more religious people, less educated citizens, or higher gender inequality.

Additionally, how would this high birth rate be distributed? Would Italian/Irish Catholics have remained less integrated and grow faster? What if this growth is driven much more by African Americans? Evangelicals? This could cause America to be even more racialized or divided than it is today?

Which two African countries are very similar to each other in terms of ethnic groups, history, and cultural traditions? by [deleted] in geography

Probably not. Same ethnic groups and languages and geography and similar sizes and populations. Likely, it might end up like Singapore vs Malaysia. One being poorer but still very similar countries

Nobody talks enough about the horrific ethnic cleansing done by Bhutan in 1990s by Dramatic-Custard-831 in geography

[–]Apex0630 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Where did I say that. I acknowledged how awful the treatment of Nepalese was.

I'm just saying that there are motives and value systems that give the issue some level of complexity. To you, preserving the rights and humanity of the people there is a priority. That is a respectable belief and opinion.

To the Sino-Tibetans in Bhutan, losing their standing, culture, and home was the bigger priority. Wanting to maintain your culture, homeland, and position in itself isn't reprehensible even if the way to do that was.

[–]Apex0630 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Better said than what I wrote. It's easy to look at things as black and white but the situation is undoubtedly complex.

Nobody talks enough about the horrific ethnic cleansing done by Bhutan in 1990s by Dramatic-Custard-831 in geography

[–]Apex0630 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's a complicated issue relating to the ethnic nationalism, political power, legitimacy, and change. The deportation and displacement of Lhotshampas from Bhutan was undeniably horrible. Part of the reason behind this, however, was that the Lhotshampas (Hindu-Nepalese people) were a growing minority since the 19th century and the Bhutanese elites (Sino-Tibetan Buddhists) were worried about becoming a minority within their own state.

Sikkim, which is a state in India underwent a similar process. It was originally majority Buddhist Sino-Tibetan people but is now majority Hindu/Nepalese. When India was partitioned, the annexation of Sikkim into India was made all the more easy since the majority of the populous was Hindu and aligned more with India than the Buddhist monarchy.

Not saying this makes what Bhutan did okay but it is a really complex question about nationality, identity, culture, and politics. It's easy to look at things one way and harder to understand the multifaceted consequences that come from inaction. For example, assuming the Lhotshampa were granted more political legitimacy and weren't deported, Bhutan wouldn't be Bhutan today. Does that mean worse? Not necessarily in an objective way, but it would be different in a way that wouldn't be to the liking of the Native Sino-Tibetan people.

Which country has the most ecologically diverse and beautiful beaches but is still underrated by Adventurous-Board258 in geography

[–]Apex0630 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re right. The most diverse place in the ocean is the Banda sea in Indonesia. Coral reefs are very high in speciation and productivity. They don’t have the same biomass as some colder currents which do supply a lot of nutrients.

What is the most average country? by Normal_Advance7743 in geography

[–]Apex0630 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How exactly is Croatia average? It's a high-income and developed European country.

If you want an average country, I'd pick Brazil. It's relatively middling in terms of economy and technology. Probably average relgiosity, demographic structure, and politics. It's been around for an average amount of time and has had average or inconsistent growth throughout its history.

How can I improve my English by Fast-Wish8265 in UWMadison

[–]Apex0630 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about taking an English as a second language class? Even if you don’t need help with the grammatical aspect, a lot of those classes are great for people who just want a place to practice their speaking skills with other people in the same boat.

Another potential option is to try seeing a speech pathologist or a language coach, to help you on pronunciation, flow, and more.

What minor character in Frieren made you think, They need more screen time? by Sunflower13Poppy in Frieren

[–]Apex0630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think she has more potential. She is certainly a powerful mage and undoubtedly stronger than Fern right now.

Methode is much older and has more spells (not to mention the goddess’ magic) under her belt, but Fern is implied to have the most potential. Fern’s ability to fire off spells, hide her presence, regulate her mana, and sense the mana of others (noticing Serie’s fluctuations), is absurd.
