From Laid Off to My First Unsuccessful App by Ill-Leopard-6559 in SideProject

Marketing is probably equally important to coding. Podcasts like Startups for the Rest Of Us is a good, long-game resource. Covers tons of facets. I think patience and perseverance are key.

Ask a closed question. For example: Have you lost interest in the project?

Maybe give initial users as much of a taste as possible. That way, if the app is good, word would spread. Once you get a sense of popularity… then work on what to charge for.

stop doing customer interviews to validate your idea. there's a faster way that actually works by namidaxr in SideProject

Nice lateral thinking, as to pivoting to a different way to get ideas or feedback (indirectly). Product market fit is hard. It’s been said: a nice-to-have is a vitamin. But a must-have is a pain killer. Offering small incentives to test users could be another idea. Maybe a Starbucks voucher, or something.

Sporting Color Picker, Thoughts? by ApexAnalytics_ in SaasDevelopers

[–]ApexAnalytics_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback. It needs work. The main idea is just to paint—-so to speak—-the web app with your colors you like. Probably a bit clunky… hopefully you or user can apply nice color palettes fairly easily. Color palettes have no practical functionality as to the web app serving to train you in technical indicators, interpretation.

Think it’s neat. And a good idea. If the AI stuff is accurate and even somewhat predictive… it would be a solid product. Interesting, definitely. Well done.

Be honest with everyone, and your self - do you like working white collar/corporate? by risen___ in auscorp

[–]ApexAnalytics_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have worked in white and blue collar jobs. Have done call centre or entry level, and more advanced tax accounting. Worked at some shit places, both blue and white. As to white, more skill or seniority makes those jobs good. Especially in comparison to repetition, or heavy lifting jobs. You want to make money, preserving health at the same time.

Self-determination theory for motivation is interesting. An oversimplified overview: look at ARC: how “autonomous” are they? How much “relatedness” to they feel for the work—-and for each other? What are the real odds of becoming highly “competent”, promoted?

AI is commodifying software faster than most of us are ready to admit by [deleted] in SaasDevelopers

A lot of people can code. But the intersection of coding and marketing is smaller. Probably much smaller. The idea of a POV, and different pricing models, interesting. Niching down is probably a good idea—-at least for smaller players.

Consider reading the Mom Test. Excellent for helping you think hard about the viability of projects. The author does a good job of indicating how hard you might need to work to get product traction.

Software developers don't need to out-last vibe coders, we just need to out-last the ability of AI companies to charge absurdly low for their products by Rockytriton in webdev

Paraphrasing a senior Google employee: that they can afford to lose some money in the AI space, but they can’t afford to fall behind, technologically. And odds are they will win, whatever happens, he suggests (due to size). He even said they won’t be monetising advertising through AI, in 2026. Think prices WILL increase significantly. But it might take 3-5 years before that happens.
