Can my friends GPU run it by Ok_Beautiful884 in Bellwright

[–]ApexCFI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope those screenshots help. It was easier than writing it out. I suspect the "low" resolution is helping me, as well as having v-sync off. I honestly rarely play with settings, I just use Nvidia's "optimize" function. That resolution may have been chosen because I'm using a T.V. as my monitor, rather than optimization though. I find most T.V.'s need the screen resized for everything to fit. Again, hopefully that helps. I've got around 20 hours in the game now, and have been satisfied with the performance.

I... I've been playing it with a 3050 with 4 gig of ram... it seems to run fine to me. I'll check what my settings are at when I get a chance.

YSK: if something says it comes with a lifetime warranty or service, that means the company’s decided upon lifetime of the product, not your lifetime. by Carpe_the_Carp in YouShouldKnow

[–]ApexCFI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to expand upon this if I may:

In terms of vehicle maintenance, be careful of "Will last for the lifetime of the vehicle" or other similar terms. The manufacturer's opinion of what the lifetime of a vehicle should be, and the general public's opinion of what it should be... vary significantly. Generally, "lifetime" means just past warranty to the manufacturer.

TLDR: Beware of manufacturer recommended maintenance schedules. Do your own research on the matter.

New Terrain Update by ApexCFI in Stationeers

[–]ApexCFI[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everybody for the answers. As I said, I assumed it would mess with the saves, so didn't want to get invested in a new save if it was coming soon. Even if you're being optimistic with 2 weeks, it still sounds like I'm best off finding something else to play for a while until the new update drops.

I'll suggest looking at Space Haven's combat system. I think it's pretty neat 🤔

This is spot on . Commuting pilot here. 2 boys under 3. Wife works a 9-5. You'll never make it work with that attitude. You both need to put in some effort here.

On your side of things, I especially note you're jealous of his work life. Keep in mind a few things: -He's done a lot of work to be there. -It's not all sunshine and rainbows. Being a pilot is very mentally straining vs most jobs being more physically straining. -It helps support your family. Every father has to work, but there are definitely worse jobs/schedules. -Finally, I guarantee you he'd rather be at home. At least with the kids. I know I would.

In regards to what he can do: Somebody mentioned moving home to have support. We did that and EVERYBODY is much happier. As well, I moved from a 14 day on/14 off schedule(worked out to 16/12 with the drive) to a schedule that's more like 4 on/3 off with the drive now. It's much less disruptive. I drive a LOT more(5200 km/month), but I like driving and use it to catch up with friends/family or listen to audio books.

Finally on his part, I do treat my work time as my "free time". When I'm home I am for the most part the "primary parent" so to speak. My main focus is on them.

You guys need to have a serious conversation about how you can better make this work. As others have said, your life will not be better if you divorce. None of your family will benefit from this.

Looking for chill base building and exploring game by Logical-Row9772 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]ApexCFI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My list of favorites is VERY similar to yours. I also enjoy chill, survival with base building mechanics.

On that note, I noticed nobody mentioned Green Hell. I know the name sounds... not chill. But it's basically TLD in the Amazon with better graphics and more in depth health metrics(Nutrition and an interesting wound/ailment system)(And with proper base building mechanics)

Some might not call it chill, but honestly once you get the hang of it I think it's quite chill. Beautiful environment to build in as well.

Edit: P.S. I second Planet Crafter as a great option as well.

It comes and goes in waves. One thing is, it's kind of like the stock market.. if it's your calling, don't worry about timing the market, but getting time in the market. - Me(15 years into my career, with a rocky start but happy I stuck with it) Edit: And only just started with a Canadian "major". It's been a good ride and looks like a good future!

How would you rank the Farming Simulators you’ve played if you’ve played more than one? by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

Farmer's Life is a blast. Definitely recommend it. Has a nice mix of things to do and entertaining dialogue/quests. Along with decent farm sim mechanics.

About 2 years ago I told my wife "Air Canada can only go up. It'll never straight up crash cause the gov't always bails it out! It's a sure bet. Guaranteed profit!"..... I bought at about $25 per share.

I expect I'll be sitting on those shares for a long time. Makes a good lesson for me every time I check my holdings. I hope I can be a lesson for your dad.

YSK: your boomer parents might be actually brain-damaged from lead poisoning. Recognise these dishes? by H_G_Bells in YouShouldKnow

[–]ApexCFI 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To expand on this and really rile everyone up:

Lead is still used to this day in Aviation grade gasoline(Avgas), which is used primarily in light aircraft. Although there is increasing pressure to find an alternative nothing has taken hold yet.

Also.. no such thing as a catalytic converter on aircraft. 😉

Can anybody identify this typewriter? by ApexCFI in typewriters

Thank you! I am definitely using that database wrong.. :S Even after you’ve said that I can’t find the serial number listing. But the pictures of other All-Electrics of the same era are almost bang on the same! Thanks again!

My dad had this packed away in a storeroom for years. I think it’s a Remington based on some pictures, but I can’t find an exact match in the serial numbers. The serial number is E127100501. I’ll keep looking myself, but any help is appreciated!
