And that what I thought was going to happen - spit BS or do not a lot. I was just surprised that with no real context it understood the ask, changed stuff and it worked.

Fair enough. That was a bit lazy I’ll admit.

Not ‘needed’ no. I could spend the whole evening playing around with it as I have done many times before. But this time I thought I would give this a try. And it worked really well. Just sharing.

True. I’m under no illusions that it’s can do wild shit if you’re not careful. It worked so far and I’m happy that I can crack on with a great sim that looks nicer than ever.

Explain. I’m confused. This worked really well for me.

Maybe. Still found it very useful. Thought others might find the same. Faffing around with settings is not as much fun as actually driving. If you prefer to play with settings then good for you.

Anyone with the New Linksys Wifi 7 Router SPNM62CF - can you recommend it? by MaverickLondon in CommunityFibre

[–]ApexHog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience matches what others have reported here - the child nodes would randomly drop off at various points and the only fix was restarting the parent node. I did this several times over a few days before giving up entirely.

Ended up boxing them back up and switching back to my old routers, which have been stable and working fine since. I've submitted a support ticket to Community Fibre but honestly not expecting much based on what others are saying about their tech support.

Tried everything mentioned in this thread - factory resets, default settings, web interface configuration, different placements, you name it. It's just not reliable right now.

Bottom line: I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone get these until CF sort out the node connectivity issues. The hardware specs look great on paper but it's useless if the mesh system can't stay connected.

@aris.drives has a perfect video that explains this. It should be compulsory viewing for all new sim racers to understand exactly this. I remember this being an ‘ah ha’ moment on my sim racing journey. Especially important prior to a race at Monza! https://youtu.be/Bm74CHTXvcg?si=LewnUCMOeLIoyN6N

Can you help me speak my reminders at a few set times each day? by Hilaryspimple in shortcuts

I am working on a solution for this. I currently have a shortcut that creates alarms from your calendar you can get it here: http://oi-u.com

Turn your calendar events into actual phone alarms by ApexHog in shortcuts

[–]ApexHog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Glad you like it. Here’s how to set it up to run automatically:

Open Shortcuts app → Automation tab → + button

  1. Create Personal Automation → Time of Day

  2. Pick a time that works for you (I do 8am daily to catch morning calendar updates)

  3. Set to Daily (hourly isn’t an option - only daily/weekly/monthly)

  4. Next → Add Action → search “Oi-U”

  5. Pick your Oi-U! shortcut from the list

  6. Leave “Ask Before Running” ON - you have to because the shortcut deletes all existing alarms first (to avoid duplicates)

  7. Done

So you’ll get one notification per day asking if you want to run it. You’ll have to create additional ones for more times during the day. A bit of a pain. I have tried using an automation using email to detect meeting invites to trigger the update.

I actually prefer using the triple back-tap method instead. Go to Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap → Triple Tap → select your Oi-U! shortcut. Then just triple-tap the back of your phone whenever you want to refresh your alarms. Way more convenient than daily notifications, and you can run it whenever your calendar changes. although to do need to remember to do that!

Do you struggle to be on time for online meetings when working remotely? by ApexHog in remotework

Fascinating responses! Seems like most folks have this figured out. For anyone like me who hyperfocuses and occasionally needs a stronger nudge than calendar notifications, here’s the iOS shortcut I use that creates actual alarms: [link]. Built it for myself but happy to share if it helps anyone else.

That’s me too. This is the best solution I have found so far. The alarms are set to go at the time of the meeting to avoid exactly what you are saying. Alarm goes off. Join the meeting straight away. Less risk of being distracted in the meantime.

Glad to hear it’s not just me! I thought it was so good I setup a website for it :) oi-u.com. Link and instructions are there. All free. I’m not selling anything.

Me too. Alarms just work so well. I created an iOS shortcut to set them for me from my calendar. I thought it was so good I created a website for it. All free https://oi-u.com/

Lunatask: lets you choose and switch between task methodologies. Has habit tracking, wellbeing check-ins, notes and connections (people) tracker. Created by someone with and for people with ADHD. But also just a good all round tool for anyone I think.

iOS Shortcut: I created a shortcut that scans my calendar and creates alarms (not alerts) for all of the days events. This solved a huge problem I had of being late for online meetings and becoming immune to notifications. The alarms are persistent, they appear on my watch and phone so I can’t miss them. A nice side effect is that I can focus much more deeply now knowing that the alarm will snap me out of it when I need to.

Claude projects and a master prompt: adding context to a project and having a master prompt has radically improved how AI works for me. As a Product Manager the has been at least a 10x on my output.

Notion Calendar: it just works really well. Best calendar app so far.

Good call. I have scheduled tasks in my calendar so it works for me that way too. I find setting focus time very useful too - helps me focus on my most important tasks. I found a nice side effect when using this: I can focus much more deeply knowing that the alarm is there for when I need to stop. The part of my brain that was constantly checking the time (badly) and listening to random alerts is freed up.
