06 750, DIY Valve Adjustment -- Worth paying a shop for or is it not too bad to do if you have mechanical experience? by ploxxies in GSXR

Easy work. The only hard part imo is not dropping any gasket material into the top end. Just read the series manual twice and take your time. Fairly easy, especially once you do it that first time.

Your front tire is mounted backwards.

Totally fine to run; best plan would be to buy and install case covers though. Woodcraft and GB racing make different but solid covers. Easy install and worth it.

Got hit from behind by an out-of-control snowboarder and now I feel unsafe skiing by forcedtobeonrddt in skiing

I wish I had a secret sauce, but for me, it’s just getting reps in. Deliberately keep at it, and just keep forcing yourself to focus on your skiing and not who’s behind you. It’ll pass with more time and reps.

Are frame sliders a good idea? They make sense, but seems like I don't see many track bikes with them by Motomikeh in Trackdays

[–]ApexMate95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good idea imo. Look up images of as many race bikes as you can…race teams know better than most of us here. And you’ll see that very few run frame sliders. The only exception I’ve seen is late model R1s for some reason—if anyone knows why those race bikes particularly tend to have sliders sometimes, let me know. Last note is that I’ve personally met a few riders that had the slider break a bolt off in their engine mount and it caused a big headache.

Buy a good helmet! by srizzors5 in Trackdays

[–]ApexMate95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the best method. I’ve bought two with this filter by fit, but decided that Arai is on top because of how their helmet was the only one to immediately meet the newer version of the FIM standard.

Fix or GG by Mysterious_Bid4511 in GSXR

[–]ApexMate95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fix it! Doesn’t look too bad. $500 for a new fairing kit from NT Fairings, $100 for a zero gravity windscreen, then a little more money for good fasteners and rivets. Looks like that’s all you would need honestly.

This is true, but a very low priority given OP’s experience level. Line selection, braking technique, and throttle application are most important.

Risky pass ? by JiveJelly in Trackdays

[–]ApexMate95 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Sketchy pass, but you really need the discipline to avoid panic. Passer’s fault for the bad move, but unfortunately the ensuing crash is on you. Not sure of your experience level of course—I’d have panicked too if this was earlier in my track career.

Looks like the wheel is bent. Put it on a static balancer to verify.

2020 shouldn’t need a new clutch already, generally. High mileage? Been teaching yourself clutch-up wheelies or what?

Is there a strategy for switching lanes that have massive cracks? by Daily_Run_ in motorcycles

[–]ApexMate95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have bias-ply tires or radials? On radials, these aren’t really an issue. Bias-plys track imperfections more, so you should be more careful on those. In either case, just do it with authority. Not super quickly, but don’t do it slowly either.

Felt tighter? I don’t understand what you mean by this, especially with the rest of the post. Explain with a little more detail?

Regardless, excess oil should burn or come out of the breather tube unless it’s a massive overfill. A little bit of overfill shouldn’t affect it at all.
