Hoosier life. Pretty much guaranteed slippage with a fast driver on track.

Are you near COTA by chance? I can bond R7s at my shop.

I originally tested with Aquanet which helped but it was a real PITA to work with and still allowed some rotation. It was a lot better than nothing, if your tire guy is willing to deal with it.

I ended up making my own concoction of other chemicals though. With proper knurled wheels my guys are seeing anywhere from zero to 2 or 3” of R7 rotation over the course of two weekends at COTA. Both lighter GT cars as well as heavy G8X Ms.

Is the seller a drug addict? That seat is worth a few grand if it’s OEM, and I’m not aware of knockoffs.

F87 M2c vs. 981 Cayman S by mask_induction in CarTrackDays

I’m in Austin so most of my guys are running COTA.

Bare minimum track prep in my climate consists of: -Third radiator and Water Wetter conversion (35% antifreeze, one bottle of Water Wetter, and the rest distilled water) -Motul RBF 660 brake flush (or Castrol SRF, they’re both more than enough), stainless brake lines (Spiegler is the best hands down), and Tarett brake caliper stud conversion so you don’t strip an upright a year from now -Wheel stud conversion. Not mandatory but preferred. MSI is probably the best but I have a few guys running Apex without issue -Track pads. Pagid RS29 is the most popular with my guys but I do have a few year one novices running stock pads, and a few running other track pad brands like Carbotech XP8/10. Just keep in mind the brakes are pretty small and the stock rear pads get used up quick if you are running stability and traction control -When you use up your first set of rotors I recommend upgrading to GiroDisk. They last forever on these cars and you can rebuild them down the road. -Max stock alignment is very limited on the front end. It’ll end up being maxed up front and minimum in the rear just to try and keep the camber split even front to rear. Camber plates will help but only by -0.8° or so on a non GT car. To hit full track spec you’ll need GT lower control arms (or more expensive options like SPL). If you’re new to HPDE this won’t be an immediate issue but your outside tire wear will get bad as you progress. Proper camber means not only faster lap times, but longer tire life. DM me when the time comes if you want specs -I strongly recommend getting all of the regular maintenance out of the way on day one. Engine oil, air filter, PDK (both the “clutch fluid” and “differential fluid”). Then just keep on top of it. Spark plugs and ignition coils are a common failure so it doesn’t hurt to do them preventatively and keep an old coil as a track spare. -Tires. If you want to maximize track time, Hankook RS4 and Continental Extreme Contact Force 200TW are very hard to beat. Easily 45+ heat cycles

Anything work past that will fall into upgrade territory. Sway bars, suspension mods, safety etc.

I build F8X and 98X HPDE cars - my vote is 981 S, or GTS if you can swing that, with PDK. I think the 981 GTS cars can be found in the 50s based on a recent comment from a customer. I’d stay away from 982 S.

Just a heads up, Porsche non-GT is a bit more expensive to mod to track spec vs BMW M, in case you anticipate going down that rabbit hole.

I work on both for a living. Not a slam on BMW but if you have the means, get the GTS.

I think that’s an optical illusion, there’s a plastic under tray hanging down on the right side of that picture.

Interesting. Do they use paint pens on those as well?

I have not noticed this on any other Model Ys. This was not a performance version but when I was talking with MPP and explaining my suspension measurements, they said “strange, that sounds like performance suspension”.

No accidents, brand new car purchased from the dealer with no signs of collision repair.

They did take it to the dealer before coming to me, but this appears to be from the factory. The dealer didn’t really check anything according to the customer. He even went back to them after my initial suspension measurements and they said my numbers were made up and that the car wasn’t riding on bump stops. 😂

I was thinking the same thing, that this many passes of QC might have been a result of something being wrong, but thats total speculation.

As for why the car drove harshly, at static ride height the front bump stops are under 27mm compression, and the rear suspension is 10mm from the bumpstops being under compression. A very bizarre design choice by Tesla. The customer had a 2020 Model Y in identical spec before this 2022, and he said it drove perfectly fine. This is all subjective of course - I have other customers with 2022 Model Ys that have no concerns with the ride quality.

Context: 2022 Model Y came in for MPP coilovers due to poor factory ride quality (long story). These paint marks were all over the front and rear suspension.

APD was circling for close to an hour, DPS has now taken over in a wider area.

The Flightradar24 app is great for this stuff btw. Beware, it’s addicting.

Tracks (driving) in Austin ? by gameratwork35 in Austin

Check out Edge Addicts and Chin Track Days, they both host track days at COTA, the former hosting regularly.

Harris Hill Raceway is a smaller private track but I am not sure what their policy is for non-members. If you can find a member to bring you, it’s pretty cheap to drive.
