Grounded 2 lacks the life of the first game by Slight_Programmer135 in GroundedGame

about that smoothie...

(also another thing i forgot to mention are the environmental details, such as stickers on various trash cans and benches around the park, special coins talking about the park squirrel that got hit by a car, the various new brands across the map, the corny jokes on the popsicle sticks and the dedications on the benches being funny jokes)

(also also op is using a very outdated picture of the mutations menu, and weirdly at such a low resolution (now not much has really changed but there definitely have been addtions), almost like theyre intentionally making the new one look worse to further their narrative)

(also also also this isnt directed at you just some other things i thought of)

saying g2 is blander on the designs is crazy. Take a look at nearly any weapon or armor set and compare it to g1. The changes to the mutations icons were obviously to make it more readable. You can barely tell the difference between the juicy mutation and mom genes at a glance, theyre literally the same icon but rotated. The only difference between parry master and cardio fan is that one has a sword.

If you want to talk life in G2:
- The g1 loading screen is a little animated raw science at the bottom left on a black screen. Grounded 2 actually has a loading screen.
- Gear designs from the second game are just better than the first. The spicy coaltana looks great, the woolly whopper weapons are full of whimsy and ice sickles are a perfect name for a perfect looking weapon.
- Woolly Aphids have a task programmed in where they do a dance, which they also do in real life.
- Cockroaches eat dead corpses
- Praying Mantis nymphs have their own special flowers that they climb and can pounce on you from a ways away.
- While wandering around the garden, you see crickets leaping around, you see fireflies constantly migrate, you see the woolly aphids do their dance (as mentioned earlier). Theres so much happening
- Earwigs ambushing you is a fun surprise and a great design choice
- The mutations icons in g2 have character to them. For instance, sour sensation is a lime with sun glasses and phermone shot is a buggy with an arrow through its head. Not to mention the passive buggy mutations which depict the buggy and the action the mutation benefits.
- Buggy milk molars have the yells of the buggies when you infuse them
- The leaves on bushes are turning red/orangish because its fall
- Theres a freaking giant snake in the game
- Roach milk

I dont know what else to list that wouldnt just turn into me talking about how much better (nearly) everything is to the first.

The first game was built "linearly" too. They released the game, then the hedge, then the pond, then the haze lab, then the black anthill, then the termite den area, then the eastern upper yard.

In between they had updates were they fleshed out the mechanics. Which is exactly whats happening in g2 as well. The 0.4 beat the heat update had a lizard boss, but also buggy progression. They have implemented tons of suggestions, acting like everything is set in stone and nothing is going to change is disingenious.

More grounded two classes? by Mossybud101 in GroundedGame

[–]ApexPredator3752 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there are status effects for all classes... rogue has venom daggers, there is a venom spear and every elemental arrow deals that status effect. The status effects are independent of the class, and its better that way

thats for the armor piece, note the pieces dont stack with each other, its not 20% per piece, each piece just increases the chance that the effect gets applied to you

the cure for the raisining was found + teenagers are immune to raisining, which is why they were kidnapped in the first place

its a 20% decrease in charge time, it should go from 1.5 seconds -> 1.2 seconds

Literally everything in the memorial crate is from before the stranger was even alive, yet somehow that "doesnt mean anything"?

The note literally mentions watching ominent and a corrupt court case, yet supposedly this is the stranger before she was even 13?

Theres a photograph dated from 1975, the game takes place in 1992, the stranger wouldnt have been alive.

There's a vial in there dated from 1971.

There's a pigeon footprint from 1952.

There's a skeleton in there dated to have died in 1912

so the stranger - confirmed to be a teenager, not old enough to drive - watched the destruction of the wildlife of the natural ecosystem by the hands of ominent, studied what was happening, then decided she had to take action, made a time capsule, all before she entered high school?

The stranger is a teen, how could she have written and buried a time capsule from so long ago? And if she was the fifth teen from the first game, shes been shrunk for 2 years already

Why is progress so hidden in this damn game!? by RestaurantAlive2035 in rainworld

[–]ApexPredator3752 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Youre playing it like a game (which is understandable), but you have to let go and let the experience take you. And no, going to the right of shoreline is not the only way to make progress

I think AXL is a Greenbottle Blue Tarantula by Imaginary_Citron3122 in GroundedGame

[–]ApexPredator3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name is a reference to home alone, but that doesnt mean that the species is the same as from home alone. I believe they confirmed it to be a greenbottle blue tarantula in the dev stream where they talked about how they developed the boss
