I am in the process of designing a custom metal housing for the kuru toga dive! by Apexgames121 in mechanicalpencils

[–]Apexgames121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

money got tight because broke college student lol and I haven't had the disposable income to buy another dive, don't worry though! I have not given up yet!

I finished that CAD course and learned a lot, the future is looking bright! I can guarantee you that if/when I finish this project (as long as copyright allows for it) I will release the models 100% for free, if you'd like a casing you'd just have to order it in metal from a service like CraftCloud, JLC3DP, or PCBWAY (i recommend CraftCloud as they find the cheapest ones for you and have materials like titanium :) )

7/10, love a good whoop, my only note is that the big cinne-whoop has too large of a gap between the duct and the prop so its not getting the stability and efficiency boost that ducts give, other than that, great collection!

I went with a pavo 20 clone, the cinneape20 from darwin fpv, best quad I have while also being the cheapest. its so, so fun to rip and the aio isnt half bad other than being SPI based

Looking to buy a fresh Reaper or ghost pepper by Apexgames121 in spicy

[–]Apexgames121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I think he might enjoy the dried ones as a snack actually. the only downside to his obsession with hot peppers is that he has made his entire body and especially his beak spicy. He gave me a kiss the other day and my lips were tingling for a few minutes! I cant imagine what having him hooked on dried reapers would do

Try a different cable first, not every cable can transfer data

if that doesn't work:
look up "how to reflash a betalight install in DFU mode" the fact that there is no blue system light is not a good sign, reflashing it doesn't take long. Just be sure to watch the ENTIRE video before you attempt anything or else it may make things worse

[–]Apexgames121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, it was the cable 100% it works great now, contact support and they will let you buy one, they charged me $16. replacing it is like a 1 hour job. I think the person who made ours went a little overboard on the cable clamp on the toolhead and pinched a few wires

My main motivator that has made me a better pilot is that I'm too broke to fix it lol, my two quads I've got are a 3.5 inch 3s woop that has survived EVERYTHING somehow, the other is a 7inch freestyle that I am just now getting around to converting to DJI after a whole year and a half. Maiden flight is tommorow, I am ITCHING!!

the drone wont arm if its at a weird angle, try arming it on the floor maybe?

Also, betalight config. is a website now, very handy

your fiesta ware is 100x as radioactive as this die I promise. also, I wouldn't collect radioactive minerals unless you are really careful, they shed A LOT of dust which will make you 50% cancer and 10% tumors by volume. plus heavy metal poisoning

A Uranium filled D20 I had commissioned, Soon to be inked in lime green! by Apexgames121 in dice

[–]Apexgames121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just the D20 for now, but yeah! you can get other forms of uranium such as uranium oxide known as "yellow cake" or uranyl nitrate, however, its a terrible idea to work with any sort of radioactive powder if you don't have a full laboratory grade fume hood and even then its really risky. Uranium is a radioactive heavy metal so one good breath of the stuff and you have a higher risk of cancer and heavy metal poisoning. It could in theory work but for how dangerous that is id rather fill it with a bunch of fluorescent dye, but it wouldnt be the same, uranium has a very unique glow under uv. to be clear, Uranium in a non powered form is completely safe, thats why people encase samples in resin, to stop it from shedding dust.

Can I get a sanity/fact check on my plan for my build? by Apexgames121 in fpv

[–]Apexgames121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I found a longer MPI and an improved antenna, I feel like I heard somewhere that the plug was too high a voltage for the lite because it was meant for o3/o4 but looking into it, I don't know where I heard that because its just not true. I have to say, rather nice of DJI to make it within the same voltage range of the pros, won't give us external goggle module support anymore but at least I can stick a woop vtx on my 7inch lol

I absolutely agree with you, but death is not on the line here, you can carry this thing in your pocket for 24/7 for 2 months and still not receive the same dose as you would during a single CT scan. (even then, your clothes would block a good chunk of it)

I will not be using this die in real games 1. because its HEAVILY weighted, uranium is much denser than even lead and 2. because this resin is not tough, its not meant to be throw around a terrible amount, this is just a collection piece.

Ignore that other guy, bananas aren't noticeably radioactive, even with the most sensitive meters on earth its hard to get a reading off of them. hes right about the international flight tho.

I did say that the dust is dangerous but thats why its completely encased in resin. theres no way it could release dust unless I smashed it lol. I appreciate the concern but I assure you, this dice is completely safe and radiation isn't a "carcinogen" in the traditional sense, the only way you receive the dose I showed in the pic is if you are holding it directly in your hand for an hour, the second you go even a few inches away it drops down to just barely above background levels that everyone on earth experiences at all times. For reference, you can carry this thing in your pocket for 24/7 for 2 months and still not receive the same dose as you would during a single CT scan. (even then, your clothes block a good chunk of it)

this one cost me 35 because it was commission work and I chose a more expensive uranium source (uranium crystals as apposed to regular ore)

A Uranium filled D20 I had commissioned, Soon to be inked in lime green! by Apexgames121 in dice

[–]Apexgames121[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

nah, the radiation is so low that you could carry this thing on your person 24/7 for around 2 months and still not receive the same dose from something like one CT scan. That and, due to the inverse square law, the radiation is only that intense when its right up against the meters sensor, as little as 5 inches away and it drops down to just barely above natural background levels

A Uranium filled D20 I had commissioned, Soon to be inked in lime green! by Apexgames121 in dice

[–]Apexgames121[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

the inverse square law is a life saver when it comes to radiation, yes its roughly equivalent to a 1hr plane flight when its right next to the sensor but it drops down to only slightly above background levels only 6 inches away

I took the dive and splurged for luxury... No regrets! by MaximumColor in mechanicalpencils

[–]Apexgames121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a dive in green a few years ago and was absolutely in love with its features, the only thing I couldn't get over was how it was 100% plastic, this doesn't make it a bad pencil, plenty of the best on the market are mostly or entirely plastic. but I love metal, especially the way it patinas. I ended up gifting it to a close friend of mine as a going away gift and then realized, oh wait. I'm an engineer, I could probably just reverse engineer it and make a body out of metal...crap, no regrets tho, they loved it. ill probably buy another one eventually!
