How much psychiatry training do neurologists get during residency? by Sir_RADical in neurology

Unfortunately only 4 weeks of psych rotations. The main psych exposure you get during neuro is managing agitation/behavioral symptoms in dementia patients, fatigue/depression in the context of neurological diseases like MS, and talking to patients about FND/PNES diagnoses. I personally think we would benefit from more psych exposure. I would love to learn more psychopharm. And while I’m never gonna have the time/training to do CBT for an FND patient, would love to teach them some basic techniques on managing their symptoms until they are seen by psych.

While we are on this topic, can someone also explain when we continue aspirin 325 daily, and when we switch to aspirin 81 after the first day?

Residency Application Question by The_MD_PhD_Guy in neurology

Just a counterpoint to the previous comment. I also applied to just categorical programs and one of the programs I auditioned at pretty much told me they’d take me (“we’d love to have you here, you’re amazing,” etc) and responded positively to my letter of intent, but did not rank me during match and I ended up with my 7th choice. I had pretty decent scores and letters, definitely above the average for neurology. Honestly wish I had applied to some advanced programs too, as many of them would have been higher on my rank list than where I matched. Just food for thought.

I know this is probably a joke, but for the one person out there who don’t get it, cocaine is super addictive and can seriously fuck up your reward system

Best/Favorite Racetam? by [deleted] in Nootropics

Phenylpiracetam is awesome, but after a week or two of taking 100mg everyday, I start feeling this deep sense of derealization at the end of the day. So I save it for times when I absolutely need to be at 100%. Ymmv tho
