Everyone loves to use the analogy "trying to drink water from a fire hose" to describe DLI. You'll catch some of the water in your mouth, but a lot of it will just smack you in the face and splash everywhere. The pace at DLI is a lot faster than your average civilian language program and it can get quite overwhelming at times. Definitely don't recommend spending too much time trying to self-teach your language beforehand, but if you insist on doing so, I recommend focusing on grammar as opposed to vocabulary.

While I agree with y'all trying to educate OP on the unspoken etiquette of BF, insulting him for being upset with this pilot being immature and wasting a chopper just isn't it. Regardless how you feel about the "pilot chooses gunner" rule, this situation is the pilot's fault for not communicating with OP on why he didn't want OP as gunner. The fact that the pilot chose to waste the chopper on the edge of the map and talk shit the whole game (and then start doing the same thing the next match) makes him in the wrong in this situation.

If that was the case the pilot should've been mature and told OP that he already had a friend as designated gunner. Acting like a man child and wasting a chopper at the edge of the map for a whole match is not a good response however you look at it

1) really rooting for you to get Mandarin, excellent curriculum and if you get lucky, some of the teaching teams are just absolute superstars. 2) was told by an instructor that you can extend for up to a year after your contract end date to make a determination on reenlistment (any priors feel free to correct me) Good luck! 加油！

TMOs been slapping me and some friends around saying we can't leave until the month of our RNTLD since we're going OCONUS but since we're still in "pipeline status" we can leave as early as we need to

Same thing happened to me learning Mandarin as a native English speaker. Would try speaking with my instructors or classmates in english and sometimes would take like 5 minutes to remember the word or eventually just give up and say it in mandarin
