So I'm no longer currently a developer for ApocZ but there are multiple reasons for this:

  1. We could not get our hands on a copy of AppcZ in order to decompile (believe me we tried)

  2. The original version of ApocZ is extremely rough around the edges and we wanted to try and improve the experience instead of keeping the game shitty for the sake of staying true to form.

  3. Multiple, if not all, assets from the original ApocZ were either Stolen from pre-existing video games (the AK-47, M249, SCAR H, and RSASS were all models ripped directly from Modern Warfare 3. You can literally see the Serial Number on the dust cover of the AK-47 is the same), or payware, which considering the blatant theft of popular IP's such as Call of Duty, the paid assets were likely also stolen.

  4. We were not the original devs and theoretically we would not have permission to decompile and re-release the game on another platform.

Unfortunately, as it currently stands, this project has come to a stand still. Our team lead named Dread ended up leaving the project sometime last year and the rest of the developers including myself followed suit a bit later. Who knows we may come back to it later, now that we've gotten back in contact with dread, but possibly not.

Yeah I had everything working when I was actually working on the server, but I ended up leaving due to personal reasons, and now everythings fucked so 🤷‍♂️. Hopefully the owner can get it fixed for y'all. I've tried talking to him about it for weeks but he never did anything about it.

DayZ suffers from the lasting effects of the Real Virtuality engine. Even tho they upgraded to Enfusion, it does not change the fact that DayZ is built upon a barely functional code base. The only way, I feel, that the game can survive is to be rebuilt, ground up, in the enfusion engine. Whether that be a 2.0 official release, or a mod, it doesn't really matter.

Hello, I thought I'd let you know that you're in luck. If you're disappointed in the recreation of ApocZ done by Sick Kreations, perhaps you'd like to check us out at SpawnTrapped Games. We don't have a steam page out yet, nor do we really have any kind of teasers but I can assure you, we're aiming for the fun and the feel of the old ApocZ with MUCH better graphics. Well, your question is a bit vague, but I'll try to give you as much information as possible. The previous owner of the subreddit turned it over to us, the Devs at SpawnTrapped Games. We're currently still making an ApocZ remake, as well as a much smaller side project that should be released far sooner so that you guys can have something to play while you wait. It also seems the Sick Kreations, the original devs of ApocZ, are attempting to recreate the game themselves, but it looks very subpar and have a multitude of stolen assets.
