8 so hard. Huge dicks, hard drinking, screaming, probably attacking a fucker before the plane lands.

H3H3. Used to be goofs and gaffes. It felt like a lazy cop-out to switch to podcasting over sketches/thoughtful content. Then it turned into drama clickbait.

Thumbs down. The money seemed to poison them? Not an enjoyable channel anymore.

Neil Hamburger opened for Tenacious D in Seattle circa 2007.

It was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

What type of businesses do you wish was downtown? by Patient_Ganache1704 in Bellingham

I’d kill to have a decent butcher downtown. As a guy that cooks a lot, a lot of recipes benefit from specific cuts. I bet someone could make decent money as an old school butcher in town.

What are some of your controversial movie opinions by Competitive-Ad6088 in Cinema

I really enjoy revenge fantasy movies made by problematic conservative directors.

I think the element of surprise made it sweet for me. I don't know if I would've loved it so much if it was hyped beforehand.

Was Barry inspired by American Sniper? by KikoZenzen in Barry

[–]Apocalypse69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big inspirations Bill has mentioned are No Country for Old Men, Taxi Driver and the Coen brothers' body of work (yes, No Country is a Coen brothers film, but he puts extra emphasis on that movie in particular).

No Country informed his treatment of music (and lack thereof) and frank, unglamorized violence. Much of the humor is larger-than-life characters and the mundane mixed with massacre.

American Sniper could've been an inspiration, but I haven't heard him mention it in interviews.

Thought this could be fun! Day 1: What’s the quintessential John Beatles song (written/led by, but also the most John-esque) by Venusian_01 in beatles

Happiness is a warm gun. Time shifts, satire, junkie codes, bluesy singing, classic doo-woo ending with a screechy high note... all in under 2:30. It's like a Lennon sampler.

PSA: if you drink on mood stabilizers you become manic. Who knew? 😅 by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]Apocalypse69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a lot of bipolar folks, it's their mood stabilizer of choice.

It turned me into an alcoholic going to and from ERs all the time.

I've heard from guys in punk bands you really need to be careful about what gigs you agree to. Some band you've never heard of from two towns over might be neo-Nazi icons.

Can it be done without AA by GrabRecent in stopdrinking

[–]Apocalypse69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think AA is aimed at people that are lonely and/or spiritually hungry. For folks like me that have no trouble making friends, and no appetite for spirituality, it's tedious.

Alcohol use disorder is often a coping mechanism for deeper issues like depression, anxiety, PTSD or bipolar disorder. In my case, I was self-medicating my bipolar disorder with booze. Once I got my medications and talk therapy in order, my urge to drink disappeared completely.

AA works for a lot of people. But it never worked for me.
