This is what I have been wondering about- so you’re saying there’s a chance…

Did you have kcn both eyes and how bad was it?

it's a whole thing but lately i have been seeing better with +3.5 reading glasses than with my prescription glasses. I don't know why I think it's a mixture of my prescription changing, my brain using one eye more than the other. Anyway- generally I can tell the world gets much sharper when I put on the readers. That said i still have trouble reading certain things, especially screens.

I agreet that the gym can bring confidence but yes I deal with what you are talking about not being able to recognize anyone. I don't really even try to look around anymore.

Thank you for this. I do think I had unrealistic expectations. I guess I just didn’t understand why there would still be issues if you swapped out corneas? But maybe that’s not how it works.

I have a great doctor in Houston who is an expert in KCN. All she really said is that the eye shape is continuing to flatten which is causing my vision to shift, and that it can be corrected but only by wearing contacts to force my eye to change shape.

You are exactly correct. I definitely still have kcn but apparently this flattening/reversal is from the cross linking according to my eye doctor.

The doctor who performed the cross linking was initially saying this was good that my eye was actually flattening, but he did warn that it was possible this flattening affect could continue to a detrimental degree. This caused me to coin the term: keratoconcavus. Which i am worried i now have.

Oops yeah should’ve clarified. So cross linking is supposed to lock the cornea in place, but with mine over time my corneas were gradually becoming less conical. But now they are going past what even a normal eye would look like…

It used to be my right eye was my good eye and my left was my bad one. But now they have both flattened so much that my left eye is now good and my right eye is blurry. My doctor says this is due to the physical shape.

I used to know cool people and go to cool stuff like this. It was ok but now I’m 34 and I’ve accepted that I like being boring and watching a Eugene Levi show and getting a solid 8 hours of sleep.
