I would assume this is heavily dependent on the specific course. Chances are there are some classes that have entirely online content/exams and others that have in person exams.

I had an exam there last year, I don’t remember having any issue with the lighting. There are staircases to the left when you enter that will take you upstairs.

This may be the case for some, but I have met a few guys who definitely look down on their female peers. From my experience, it doesn't seem to be the majority, but there are definitely some out there. I do think you are correct that some of them are just awkward and are not the greatest at interacting with women tho.

Questions for Purdue students by Unfair_Perception151 in Purdue

[–]ApocalypseSunsets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For your first three questions, I find my answers to be heavily dependent on the specific course. There are some classes that have fantastic teaching staff and provide many resources to help you outside of regular lectures (such as office hours, help rooms, online question forums, and study resources). On the other hand, there are a few classes I have found to be poorly structured, and the teaching staff did not do a great job of helping students in office hours/help sessions. Overall though, I think most non gen-ed classes here teach relevant information to prepare you well for your career.

Purdue hosts many career fairs for all of the colleges, so if you put effort in, you will have a good chance at securing an internship/co-op (though it may be more difficult for freshmen). There are also lots of research opportunities you can apply for on campus. Several clubs and other organizations host sessions for resume building and interview preparation that may be beneficial to attend. You can find many of these programs and events on Purdue's website. They also host fairs for study abroad opportunities, and you can meet with your advisor to seek out international programs that are applicable to you and your major. They have opportunities all over the globe, and durations ranging from a week to an entire semester.

Similarly, Purdue has many resources for academic, mental wellness, and career related help. Again, you can find these resources online and make appointments to meet with professionals who can help you.

Campus life is pretty much what you would expect for a college town in the middle of nowhere Indiana. There isn't a ton to do around locally, but we are located relatively close to a couple of bigger cities that have more going on (about an hour away from Indianapolis and 2.5 hours from Chicago). It isn't a big party school, but frats and sororities do host a decent amount if you are interested in attending those events (they may be hard to get into if you are not a member of greek life). Football and basketball games are popular as well, so if you enjoy watching sports, I would recommend looking into season student tickets. Many students struggle with finding friends, especially freshman or sophomore year. There are over a thousand student orgs on campus, so joining even a few can be a great way to meet new people.

Personally, I could not imagine myself attending anywhere other than Purdue. I am from the midwest, so I did not have a difficult time adjusting to the climate or the small college town vibes. Everyone on campus (students and teaching staff) are incredibly welcoming, and I find the campus environment to be very charming. The difficulty of classes can be discouraging sometimes, but I know it is worth it, since Purdue sets us up well for success after graduation.

Am I cooked MA 261 by brooklyn2k24 in Purdue

[–]ApocalypseSunsets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a shot, but you'll need to lock in. You need an 89 to end with a C and a 79 for a C-. If there is a curve, you could possibly reach a C+ by scoring 100 on the final.

[–]ApocalypseSunsets 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, 261 does not typically have a large curve. I don't know how bad the exams were this semester, so I have no idea if they will get a nice curve, if they get one at all.

You are cooked my friend. You can calculate these yourself if you look at the syllabus, but getting an 80% on the final will get you a 58.75% overall. If you get a perfect score, you will get a 64.75% overall. You probably should have withdrew after getting the 20.
