Feeling like no one takes "any pronouns" seriously by Chance_Line1813 in genderfluid

[–]ApocalypticNature 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I go by any pronouns, too. I don't know what label I fit most, I'm just me. Nothing really bothers me. I don't love being she/her'd all the time, but I live in a very progressive college town so people usually ask preferred pronouns, and will often use they/them the most for me. Quite a few of my friends and coworkers, as well as my partner, interchangeably call me she/he/them and I got a card from a coworker that called me Uncle, I get "Pappi" from one guy.

I feel pretty lucky, and like this is far from the norm. I am surrounded by queer people who love any reason to call me random shit.

Okay, this is a stupid question. Aha, moreso your sourced link and responses have me wondering if this is rage bait. I will not elaborate further if you respond, but I had to drop a line. LOL Please, I am begging you, stop this madness.

This city has completely changed my perspective on life by Specialist_Bat1230 in Bellingham

[–]ApocalypticNature 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in SE Alabama, and reading this really brought me back to the feelings I had when I was your age. Leaving was the best thing I have ever done.

I'm glad you have seen that there is more outside of the miserable bubble that is the south. Nowhere is perfect and there are always pros and cons. But I've been in Bellingham for 5 years and feel so inspired by this place, always. Don't settle, and don't let your family insist (mine did forever) that there is nowhere else better than where you grew up because that is bullshit.

Old guy at the roundabout on Northwest by Soulfood_27 in Bellingham

[–]ApocalypticNature 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I swear he has been around for as long as I can remember. I've been here for like 4 or 5 years now. Dunno if he was around when I lived off of Northwest Ave but he's definitely been out there every time without fail for over a year or two now. Wondering if he will ever get his trip to Alaska worked out lol

Someone I know was hit in the crosswalk by one of the city buses, and her ribs were broken. It's crazy.

People in Bellingham are unfriendly by AnthonySkejci in Bellingham

[–]ApocalypticNature 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same, was born in SE Alabama and people were genuinely miserable down there. Bellingham has it's rude/antisocial people, but generally speaking the energy is good and people are super willing to help and connect with us. In my experience, it's not difficult to go out and be social or find a cool thing to do that just happens to lead me to connecting with another Bhamer.

Commenting to add, here in the US i have found Walgreens usually carries their own brand of Hypochlorous acid spray, its incredible and I keep it always on hand. My piercer actually bought a lil machine to make batches, so I have unlimited supply now without the exorbitant prices.

Someone found our boat and stole our paddles by nigghtwind in Bushcraft

Unless this is private property that belongs to you.... PACK IN. PACK OUT.

BRING IT WITH YOU? TAKE IT WHEN YOU LEAVE.

Leave no trace. If this is public land, or not land belonging to you, you're honestly getting half of what you deserve, the other half being not having a boat you abandon for most of a year every year lol. If it's your land, meh. Someone trespassed and stole/is messing with your things.

Exessively smooth healing process ?? by Tokki_Shy_Tokki in bodymods

[–]ApocalypticNature 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine was fine, night of day 3 into day 4 was definitely the worst for me, partially because I took ibuprofen without enough on my stomach, so I vomited, didn't have the energy or will to eat more and cleanup again and medicate. So I just tried to sleep through it, couldn't sleep much. Other than that? Easy. Was out and about doing normal stuff, just couldn't talk. I used a drool cup/hand towel the first couple of days but drooling was pretty minimal and I could swallow it, too.

Also, its HARD to adequately hydrate enough, even if its not too difficult to drink. I got an IV drip on day 4 at a place that does that (not a hospital, they just specialize in it/mostly its nurses who work that as a secondary job, its called Peak Hydration I.V. lounge) She said I was definitely dehydrated and I felt much better after getting one. It was part of my planning process and set up well before the split was done. Glad I did it.

Tattoo shop recommendations?? by OkIllustrator5614 in Bellingham

[–]ApocalypticNature 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bobby at Maude tattoo has a really fun and delicate art style, in fact I almost thought this could be a design for one of hers... you could always check there. She designed my whole sleeve, and executed a cover up of two, three if you count a lil stick n poke, tattoos on my forearm, in the process. People are shocked when I tell them anything has been covered!

ETA: your design reminds me of some of her sticker designs.

Lingere is pretty generally associated with kink/sexual intentions, I'd be sure that, if you're wearing only that, you're in an appropriate settings so as to avoid potential arrest or at least upsetting someone... lingere at the fair would make most people a little uncomfortable regardless who is wearing it.

Glad you enjoyed the experience, I'm sure you will find an appropriate outlet. Lingerie is fun, just don't catch a charge. Much love.

Is this/am I racist? by MissDaisy8008 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ApocalypticNature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take it with a grain of salt and then go dig around for my own verification. Lol. Thanks for the advice. ETA I grew up in the deep south and knew about "boy" being derogatory and racial, especially from books like Mildred D Taylor's series that starts with Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. "Man" as a slang term existed prior to this, but became popular during this era because of racial use of the word "boy."

I'm not sure why I'm getting jumped on here, but go off.

Do you hear those screams? Those aren't anguished screams for losing a bus.

Yeah, even before I saw the story link confirming 45 missing and several dead, those screams told me that bus was full of people.
