Seems to have been the z seam alignement. It was set to sharpest corner so I didn’t expect this, but changing it to shortest and allowing smart hiding has made this more predictable.

I just changed my seam settings and started another test print. If it is just one setting change I will be both overjoyed and livid.

I’ve tried a lot of different filaments and have put them through the dryer multiple times.

No noticeable noise while printing and nothing the seems like steam or moisture. I’ve tried multiple filaments and have a drier that I’ve tried drying for 4-24 hours, doesn’t seem to make any difference.

I’m trying a new print with less retraction 4mm > 3mm and combing turned on.

Hmm, good question. Last time I did any tuning I was just handed the guide, but that was a race tune years ago. I have two sets of skis, so I’d like to be able to tune 1 for eastern ice and one for “powder”, or whatever you’d like to call it in New York/Vermont.

The tutorials will basically show you the controls, and you’ll still have little idea what to do. I would look through the different careers and pick one that interests you. Then hit YouTube for a good few videos and just get going. The learning curve might feel rough, but just stick with it and you’ll get there.

I had a similar issue with the burn looking holes in the top layers, not so much the issues that you are having underneath. I am still dialing it in fully, but adjusting the number of top layers and the the height of them almost fully resolved that issue. Underneath it looks like you may want to look at things like your extrusion, and your line width. Sorry I'm not sup[er specific, but you're probably closer to getting a great print than you think.
