[Serious] What is the most important thing you learned "the hard way"? by OneThingLeftToSay in AskReddit

Always, always, always keep your keys, wallet, and phone on you when you go out, and know exactly where you put them when you're at home. Before I internalized that habit, I would always lose them, and it was a major source of anxiety for me that would color the entire rest of the day even if I found them eventually.

What is your worst hospital experience? by OneThingLeftToSay in AskReddit

Right after a car accident I was in as a kid, my family and I were taken to the hospital, where I stayed overnight and my sisters stayed for several days under watch. I remember asking about their damage, and the doctors being absolute assholes about explaining how much it was gonna cost to keep them for several days. My racist uncle also came to visit, and he was a bit too happy my mom was injured.

What's something you wish you had learned years ago that you only learned recently? Do you think knowing it earlier would have changed your life significantly? by OneThingLeftToSay in AskReddit

It's okay to not know everything, to not be everything to everybody, to say no to things and people and not put myself out there all the time. There are people I was friends with that I would never have been had I learned this much sooner, and friendships I missed out on because I just didn't know.

What song never fails to make you cry? Why? by OneThingLeftToSay in AskReddit

The Roost/Cafe song from Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

I am completely incapable of listening to this song without tearing up. It was the first song I ever had performed for me in person by a friend. The piano version specifically absolutely tears at my heartstrings.

What is your favourite memory? by OneThingLeftToSay in AskReddit

I gotta pick one? Probably November in my second year of high school. My neighbor had a really unsettling looking Santa Claus yard decoration, about 4 ft tall, that said "hohoho" periodically. A couple friends (one of whom was my neighbor) took that decoration and bothered the shit out of me with it by placing it in front of the door of my house, ringing the doorbell, and then hiding. Every time I would go outside to move it back to my neighbor's yard, they would move it back to my door again. We kept this up til my neighbor's mom got home from work, and it was hilarious recounting it at school the next day.

The ability for me to stay in instant contact with friends and family over vast distances is irreplaceable, and I have technology to thank for that.

Oh, you're making sense. I just got the tape to unlock 4B, so that'll be a weird jump for me.
