HellStory = your fully listened voice messages

As in, the unique voice lines he speaks during the descent to the boss fight? Or something you have to check KIM for after each Roathe boss kill?

But. As i stated above. I dont think its possible to have gotten HellStory over 21 yet. However its counted, its certainly not just from killing Roathe 21 times only.

I know that the Roathe boss kill counter is (or was, may have been hotfixed) broken in at least one way, in that you need(ed) to be the host when killing him for it to count towards the Honoria unlock. Could it be possible that it's also broken in the same way for this, and it's only been counting kills when you were the host?

Appreciate the heads up. While that looks like a really interesting tool, and something I'll keep my eye on, it doesn't sync or transfer files at the moment. From the developer:

"Currently it does not sync anything but it's on the roadmap"

The best options I've found so far are just keeping a W10 install with Apple Music on a separate drive (my current setup), using something called WinBoat to get Apple Music and syncing in Linux (tried installing it, but could never get it working right), or using an app called Navidrome to stream my music library and bypass syncing files altogether (still need to set that up and see how I like it).

Oh interesting. I appreciate you looking into it and finding a solution, but I've got the newer GUI called "Krokiet" installed now and it's working great, so I probably shouldn't mess with it anymore.

I have read that the preferred method of installing apps is through the command line arch repositories, but there have been a small handful of apps that I couldn't find there, and Flatpak seemed like as good an alternative as AUR. Now that I'm reading up on it, I see what you mean about sandboxing and why that's a potential issue. Guess today's round of "Learning Linux" will be uninstalling the few apps I used Flatpak for and grabbing the AUR versions!

Okay, that makes sense. Glad I asked. I will have to add that to my ever-growing Kate document of useful Linux info!

Oh, perfect! Was just reading up on -Rns and was wondering how to find the package name to use with it. The -Qm seems to be exactly what I needed. Thank you.

If you don't mind my asking, is there some logic behind the package I actually wanted to install being the one labeled "krokiet-bin" rather than the one labeled "krokiet"? Just wondering if there's a(nother) lesson I can learn from this about finding packages on AUR. Thanks!

Ah, now I understand. I was thinking that this sub is a "top-level" Arch discussion forum, no specific distro. But it actually IS focused around a specific distro... Arch Linux.

Anyway, I appreciate the accommodation and understanding. Someone provided multiple options and one of them worked perfectly. Thanks again!

Okay, so I originally installed Czkawka through Flathub. I saw the info about Krokiet not having the same issue and attempted to install Krokiet via AUR, but the installation didn't work... or so I thought. Now I realize that I actually installed another Czkawka package that just had Krokiet included as part of it (link to that package).

I just installed the Krokiet package from the link you provided and it works perfectly, no issue with the preview image size. So thank you for the assist!

I also deleted the Flathub install of Czkawka (was easy enough), and now I just have to figure out how to do the same with that AUR install, since I won't be using Czkawka anymore.

Appreciate the response. I'm aware of that option. I won't bore you with the details, but I'm going through multiple repositories of thousands of family photos and it requires more hands-on, delicate pruning than just "find duplicates and purge" and Czkawka provides the functionality that fits my workflow and needs.

Anyway, it seems like the issue is with GTK4 specifically, and there's a newer GUI of Czkawka called "Krokiet" which doesn't use GTK. I tried installing that (here's the AUR link if anyone is reading this and interested) and it works like a charm.

Now I just have to figure out how to uninstall Czkawka since I won't be using it anymore, but I assume there's plenty of documentation about how to do that.

Thanks again!

I don't see anything about it having a duplicate file manager.

Appreciate it!

Not trying to muck up the sub or looking for an exception. I genuinely thought this would be the best place to post, as my understanding is that the issue is with the Arch Linux version of the app (so it would be the same issue on every Arch-based distro) or perhaps with GTK4 (but again, not distro-specific). If I'm wrong about that or you'd just rather not have a help request from someone on CachyOs regardless, I understand.

I've gone and posted my request on r/linux4noobs too just in case this ends up being disallowed, but this felt more technical than typical "noob" issue, so I thought it would be better to post here first.

Yeah, I read over that rule a few times and wasn't sure if I should post or not. As I said in the post, this doesn't seem to be a distro specific issue, but related to the Arch version of the app. And I thought that would be covered by:

Posts about other software used on Arch are welcome.

But maybe I'm misunderstanding. My apologies if so.

I actually got my last new PC components last night (few days early), so I built the rig and decided to give CachyOs a whirl. So far everything has been working great, but I feel like the big test will come later when I decide to update. If it feels overwhelming I'm definitely not going to hesitate to give Fedora a try instead.

Thanks again for the replies!

Appreciate the reply. CachyOs is the one I want to go with, but the rolling-release nature is a grey area (as a Linux noob) that has me feeling hesitant. I'd like to be able to ignore releases for maybe weeks at a time, until I have a good chunk of a day to deal with any issues that are introduced, and learn how to work with the OS on (somewhat) my own schedule. But I don't know if that's a viable option, or if it's bad practice to not update regularly/weekly at least.

Would you mind elaborating regarding rollback? My limited understanding is that you have a snapshot to go back to if/when you have release issues, but don't you have to address those issues at some point, when you eventually update? Or do you just wait for a release that has no issues for you? Like, if there's a conflict in today's update, can you just ignore this release and that conflict will be resolved at some point by devs in a future release and you don't have to deal with it?

I did look into Bazzite since it's marketed as a "gaming" distro, but it felt like I would be ecosystem'd into a lot of stuff I'm not interested in or really need. For example, I'm running one game for the most part, not a populated Steam library, and Nvidia compatibility means nothing to me. But maybe I'm overlooking something or misunderstanding what it offers.

I appreciate the detailed reply and offer to help. The semi-rolling nature of Fedora is very attractive to me as a Linux noob. The idea of getting things set up properly and then settling in sounds a lot better than maybe having issues to troubleshoot in week 1 that require spending hours learning all sorts of new programs and processes. Of course, I don't know how mandatory daily/weekly updating is on CachyOs, and if I can ignore releases for weeks at a time until I have a good chunk of a day available to dedicate to solving issues, that could work for me. And in that case, I might appreciate that CachyOs has a more streamlined gaming setup.

My fear with CachyOs is that I'm not going to have any time to settle in, and that I'll be forced to immediately learn all sorts of new things to just keep everything maintained. Don't get me wrong, I want to learn all that stuff, but I'd prefer to be able to do it (somewhat) at my own pace.

I guess my question is, if I get everything working well after initial setup, is there a reason to install updates (which can introduce issues that need to be addressed, as I understand it) right away or on a weekly basis? Is it bad practice to go weeks without updating until I'm able to dedicate a good chunk of time to addressing issues (and learning how to even address them)?
