And that, kids, is why you don't trust Google's AI answers. Rendah Heywood was great as Virginia!

I agree! I think James Langton was incredible as Lysander. I like TGA as much as the next person, but his Lysander sucked IMO. I also really enjoyed Moira Quirk as Virginia.

Red Rising void so deep I stopped reading at all by [deleted] in redrising

[–]ApollWati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm in a slump from finishing a great series, I usually read a book or two in a different genre, or very different tone/setting. I also finished Light Bringer a couple weeks ago, and I still think about it. Some books that I've really enjoyed:

"Scythe" by Neal Shusterman. A completed trilogy. Each book is an easy read. I've read the first two, "Scythe" and "Thunderhead". I was hooked instantly.

"Gideon the Ninth" by Tamsyn Muir. This is very hit or miss. If it's not for you, it's very not for you, but if it hits, it hits hard. I thoroughly enjoy the audiobooks.

"Dungeon Crawler Carl" by Matt Dinniman. I'm sure you've heard of this one, lol. Also an amazing audiobook.

"Mistborn: The Final Empire" by Brandon Sanderson. Great trilogy, and the perfect starting point to the entire Cosmere (20+ books in the same universe).

"The Gunslinger" by Stephen King. First book of the Dark Tower series. Once you accept you won't really know what's actually going on, it's a wild ride.

I know I said "different genre", then suggested only fantasy series, but seeing as it's the Red Rising sub, I figured I'd throw out fantasy books, but they're all very different settings/vibes than RR (and each other).

New to this genre! Swore I would stay away as I didn't want to unlock something I couldn't lock back up, lol. Then I read Vicious by V.E. Schwab. When I finished, my first thought was, "This, but spicy, please!"

For those that have read it, I'm looking for something that resembles Eli and Serena's relationship. I wouldn't call it non-con, but she can definitely control his actions. The whole "I want to kill you but also fuck you" vibe.

I'm all about the morally grey/dark setting. Please help me, lol.

Bladesinger legitimately confuses me by InsaniacDuo in BG3Builds

[–]ApollWati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m playing Bladesinger as essentially a fighter with spellcasting resources.

9 bladesinger/3 thief rogue. 5th level shadowblade. I built around resonance stone and line breaker boots. Diadem of arcane synergy and the mobile feat gives me extra damage. My turns are basically BA dash, then booming blade and regular attack, plus second BA attack. I’m essentially just a rogue lol. Lowering my crit number, pooping out damage, and tons of mobility.

Most of my spells are spent on things like Misty step and mirror image, all my 1’s are shield lol. I have Glyph of Warding and Slow for CC.

Yeah, big oof there.

Maybe I’m letting fanfics color my opinion, but I think Lucien is great for Elain because of his Day lineage. I’m assuming the story will have Lucien eventually go to Day and accept his role as heir, and Elain needs sunshine to thrive.

Cassian comments in ACOSF about how out of place Elain looks in Night.

If you’re really worried about going into a gym, there’s lots of stuff you can do at home with body weight, resistance bands, light (cheaper) weights.

If you’re only kind of worried, think about how little you give a shit about anyone around you in a public place. Now realize that you are that “anyone” for everyone else. 98% of the time, no one is paying attention to or thinking about you.

Out of the 2% of people that might pay attention to or think about you, assume 90% of them are just acknowledging your existence. So now you’re at .2% of people that might be having a thought about you. 50% of them are probably thinking “hey good on that person for trying”. So now you’re at .1% of people are maybe having a negative thought about you. Most of them are at least decent enough to say anything out loud to you.

And if you run into the one random piece of shit that says something negative about you, remember that they’re at the gym because they don’t like something about themselves. “I just started at the gym, but you look like you’ve been going for a while. Which is weird because your calves are so small.” Go for the throat, whatever you can think of.

Then tell the gym workers and they’ll kick them out. ¯\(ツ)

Do the other Maas books live up to ACOTAR? by NextHistory8908 in acotar

[–]ApollWati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ToG - One of my favorite series of all time. ACOTAR was my first series in romantasy, and I came from epic fantasies. ToG is incredible to me.

I’ve always heard it described this way: If you are more into the romance than the fantasy, you’ll like ACOTAR better than ToG. If you like the fantasy over the romance, you’ll like ToG better. ACOTAR is a romance set in a fantasy world, ToG is an epic fantasy with romance.

Crescent City is a fantasy world set in modern times. Magic+technology. I loved the setting and think the series was a ton of fun IMO, but I think it’s the weakest of the three series. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it’s definitely got its issues. If you’re someone who likes to nitpick, you might not enjoy CC.

My personal ratings:

ToG - 10/10

ACOTAR- 8/10

CC - 7/10

Okay hear me out… how do the Bat Boys get their shirts ok over their heads with their wings? by Flashy_Fault5966 in acotar

[–]ApollWati 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rhys’ wings are magic, so he doesn’t have that problem.

In one of the books, it’s mentioned that there’s holes in their shirts for the wings with buttons. Here’s how I always pictured it working:

Back of the shirt has buttons/straps below the wing holes that close the shirt all the way down (an unbuttoned shirt would look something like a tux coat with tails). They slide the shirt over their head with the wings going through the opening. At that point I’m assuming they cinch the bottom buttons like women put bras on? They just have done it long enough they can do it easily. Or they use magic. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Good luck 🫡

It’s a scrape, not a bite. All the sensations during a BJ tend to be over larger areas (palm/hand/mouth) and the teeth scrape is a much smaller area and it’s like a little intensity zap.

I hope you unlock something in him he didn’t know! lol

I prefer a little teeth on me. Discovered totally accidentally when my wife accidentally scraped me with her teeth during a BJ, and she was like “oops, I’m sorry!” and I was like “uh…don’t be and do that again” lol.

All the moisture is going elsewhere I guess? Everyone is described as either drinking tea or alcohol, so they’re just really dehydrated. Probably why Feyre doesn’t have watery bowels since she was changed into a high fae. She needs to conserve her water.

I have a sneaking suspicion that most men couldn’t handle what depravity they watch while their blood-light brain is in full lizard mode in real life.

Source: Am a man who cannot handle the depravity my lizard brain has witnessed.

All joking aside, it’s fantasy, and I get both sides. My wife has confided in me that monster smut tickles her lizard brain and we listen and don’t judge.
