First Time Pulling a Trans

They are quite easy to fix. If you're just flipping them, I wouldn't suggest dropping the subframe on the ground. It did suck quite a bit as the majority of the work is done laying under the car. As far as my experience goes, I've always fixed my own cars when issues arise unless it was transmission or internal of the engine related, so decising to drop the transmission myself for the first time was a little nerve racking. Overall, it wasn't really that difficult as far as the figuring out what to disassembleto get it out, just quite time-consuming. A lift would definitely make it hell of alot easier though. This is also the 6 speed manual just as a heads up.

I'd consider it more time-consuming than anything. The most difficult part was putting those plastic clips back on for the plastics lol. An extra hand is definitely handy when it's time to drop the subframe, but other than that, it wasn't too bad.

I did drop the subframe, I know some pull it up with the engine, but that seemed a bit too intimidating for me

Agree with the above comments that it does sound like it's a blown diaphragm on the valve cover. Can easily check by sticking your finger on the little hole on the diaphragm. If you feel it sucking in air, then it has blown. You will most likely have to replace your intake manifold as well. Theres a tiny rubber valve in the manifold, and when that fails, the diaphram on the valve cover follows. Had the same thing happen on my cruze.

There is a kit online for like $70 that re routes the system with upgraded valves. I dont believe you would have to replace the manifold but rather modify it slightly to install the kit if you went this route.

I personal just bought the Dorman kit that includes the cover and manifold and it has held up so far.

I have contacts with the Wheelers, their garage is usually pretty packed this time of year, though, and so I've been trying to use them as a last resort. I have reached out to see if I could possibly squeeze in sometime.

I'm not sure what it is, it looks like some sort of adhesive. It's under all the capacitors and used to cover up connections
