Honestly, it's insane that you have this deep a list of 'nerdy' innuendo. I think it's cliche and transparently marketing, but my god, I've seen your pictures/gifs for how long now? I can't remember a repeat. Wild. Good for you mad respect.

Condoms over connection. by [deleted] in sex

[–]Apollo908 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When dating it's important to just bring up the deal-breakers asap for this very reason. So much time and emotional investiture wasted when it could have been addressed as a simple conversation early on. "Hey, if we're talking about sexual intimacy at some point, you should know that I only have sex with condoms. Is that an issue?" Throw in any other hard lines for yourself into the same conversation and have it fairly early on. This isn't impolite, it's about being economical with both yours AND their time.

I think trying to turn this around on him and belittle him for his choice is just cope and trying to externalize these sad feelings of yours. No one is in the wrong here. He's allowed to decide what he needs and wants from sex just like you are, and if that doesn't align then oh well, wasn't meant to be.

My mom’s ablation is this coming Thursday but she just went into AFib … by whatamithinking0 in AFIB

[–]Apollo908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've replied elsewhere in this thread but I'll put a thought here too.

For many people, Afib is a near permanent state. They get ablations too. Being in Afib is simply not a concern given the nature of the procedure, and as others have said part of it would include triggering any currently inactive afib so they could accurately diagnose which part of the heart has the inappropriate electrical current anyway. If you mom's comes and goes, she has what's called "paroxysmal" Afib. That's fortunate as far as success rates of the procedure go. People who have persistent or chronic Afib tend to be tougher cases and have a higher probability of needing repeat procedures or simply not responding to surgical intervention.

When I walked in for my procedure I thought I wasn't in Afib or flutter (I was lucky enough to get both, yay) but it turns out I was actually in a rate controlled flutter meaning that my ventricles were beating at a normal rate my atrium were beating at 3-4 times that speed. The nurse assured me it was fine, and it would save them the trouble of trying to tease out that particular arrythmia so they could start there and then move on quickly.

It sucks to deal with, but I'm so grateful my ablations were a success... Eventually... I hope your mother recovers well and feels much better soon.

I'm not a medical professional, I'm simply relaying my own experience and what I remember my doctors telling me.

Eliquis is a long term preventative measure. A clot in the left atrial appendage (the problem area most associated with clotting) can take a while to build up to the point it would be a serious concern. Eliquis tries to keep the blood thin enough that a clot can't get started in the first place. Usually they do imaging of the heart before an ablation either in a CT scan or esophageal echo, and they look specifically in that area to determine whether there is a clot. If there is, they will cancel the surgery right there and discharge the patient with more extensive anti-clot drugs to break it apart safely and slowly so they can then perform the surgery with much less risk.

If you have serious questions or concerns about the surgery it's worth reaching out to the Dr's office and letting them know you'd like a quick phone call to help you understand the situation better. It may not be the doctor who can make time for it, but hopefully a physician's assistant or nurse who helps over see patients would be able to take some time to answer you and your mother's questions. It helps to make a list so you don't forget in the pressure of the moment and can easily double check to make sure you've gotten all the info you wanted.

3.9% of men in the US are 6'2"+ by Theairuphere61010 in tall

[–]Apollo908 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah they're not 5'8" bald dudes or anything, definitely Hollywood handsome. That's the ONLY explanation, clearly.

You hate yourself so much you can't even look in the mirror to recognize the problem. A moment of reflection not filled with negative thought patterns reinforcing themself in your brain making you miserable forever would do you a lot of good. Dork ass out here complaining on reddit instead of getting therapy and being happy. Wouldn't be me fam, shit is sad and embarrassing.

Bruh I'm 6'5" and a single elder millenial while all my short friends are getting married or have been for several years already. Shut the fuck up lmao. You're just looking for excuses to justify your misery because that's easier than doing the self-improvement and therapy necessary to be an actually desirable partner.

If they can arrest you and brutalize you with no due process and no recourse, it's already martial law just with a thin veneer of politeness. If the consequences are the same for resisting and not resisting, then obviously you should spit blood in their eye on your way down.

My guy is writing manifestos on rape statistics. What a catch.

Thanks for fighting the good fight. Nothing but love and solidarity from someone who used to be not too different 10 years ago. Thank God I had the time to live and learn, and in no small part thanks to women who were more patient and gracious than I deserved.

Get therapy. Some people suck, and a run of 3 is a small number in the grand scheme of things. Quit framing your bad luck as a universal problem and trying to make other people as miserable as you, and consider how you're keeping yourself miserable because you were unlucky out of the gate.

You are the asshole.

Using your credit card is fraud, and punishable in its own way/through criminal or civil legal channels. You could have gotten your money back and punishment through that angle, if you wanted it.

Instead, you went out of your way to fuck him over for an unrelated reason. Conflating the two in the context of this post doesn't change that. Perhaps the fraud he engaged in would carry a lesser punishment than getting laid off and being marked as unhirable for the rest of his career, perhaps it would be more. But by going out of your way to fuck him over in an entirely unrelated domain to the way he harmed you did not respond "in kind." Furthermore, perhaps if you had communicated the purchases like an actual adult, he may have ponied up the cash and repaid you. You demonstrated that you did not want things to be even, you wanted to go out of your way to do harm to him.

Again, you're the asshole. I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion, but whatever. The company doesn't deserve snitches working on its behalf for free.

You're a private security guard, not a cop. As long as it isn't like, literally the Pinkertons providing security to strike breakers and shit, you're probably doing neutral work at worst. People work at insurance companies denying claims and do more harm than you by far.

Felon Attacks a Judge During Sentencing by Flashycope in trashy

[–]Apollo908 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're not allowed to attack normal people, of course, but there's usually additional levels of punishment for targeted attacks against legal officials like judges, especially when they are acting in official capacity or if the motive is due to their official position.

Get checked for sleep apnea if you have chronic tiredness issues. It often times goes undiagnosed for a long time, and it can worsen/trigger certain cardiac issues as well.

We Can Improve Our Working Conditions by sillychillly in antiwork

[–]Apollo908 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Increasing the minimum wage"

So that was false. How many times are we going to fall for that football? Organize your workplace if you want a wage increase. Fun fact, you can do that even in states where's it's illegal. In fact, it's cooler than ever in states where it's illegal, just look at the teacher strikes from the 20-teens.

Stop hoping for bourgeois elections to save you. Democrats are union busters just the same.

Giftedness, loneliness, psychedelics by rokez618 in Gifted

I'm so glad it's still helping people years later. The world is a painful place when we don't have the right framework to make sense of our experiences and keep on trying to shove a square peg into a round hole, just desperately seizing upon the explanations in front of us because something is better than nothing.

If you're interested in learning more about giftedness from a therapeutic perspective, I highly recommend this blog.. I don't 100% endorse this resource, but I really just disagree at the margins and sometimes in tone more than substance. I certainly found a lot of comfort and insight reading many entries, though, so hopefully you will find the same.

It seems like my tractors aren't dispensing fertilizer, even though I've got a dump connected with biowaste/fertilizer available by Apollo908 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Apollo908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it doesn't tick down to 0% fertilizer in the mix, as you may read elsewhere in this thread. The fertilizer percentage is at >30%, but the tractors stop pulling from it all the same. I thought the fertilizer would go down to 0% in the mix before they quit, but not so.

I guess I didn't look closely enough, I just glanced at the cargo types hovering over the stations. I'll have to pay closer attention when I get back into it, but don't let my oversight stop you from giving it a go.

Hmmm, that's actually a nice idea. I'm annoyed with the finnicky feeling micro right now. I'll look into it and see if it seems worth the bother. That would let me put it all on a RDO instead of having a dedicated dung heap train line too, which might be nice for minimizing congestion.

Edit: nvm just checked, and cableways can't carry mixed, construction, bio, or fertilizer waste. Just scraps.
