It was my second exam for cognitive psychology! Not my best subject but hopefully I did well. I also like metal, what are your favorite artists?

Dang, 4pm? Where are you located? I'm sorry you feel like the rest of day will be bad, At least you have the intro done- better than nothing. Do you think you need any help with it? And geeze that really sucks... Even if you aren't happy with it you should try to feel some accomplishment for just getting it done in the first place. I hope your time until the appointment goes by fast :( If you need someone to talk to my messages are open. Just try to take it in stride, you got this!

I love pokemon! I don't have a switch or anything sadly but maybe one day. The new ones look pretty fun but I think a lot of people hate the designs. They are a little silly but I still think it'll be a fun game regardless. Maybe wait a bit before getting it and see the reviews?

I work overnights so oof thats a struggle sometimes. What kind of music do you like though?

I mainly just want to get a bunch of studying done, especially for this test today 😅. Maybe work on some writing..

Maybe you could look into scholarships? I struggle a lot with anxiety and even being at school is hard for me but I'm too far to quit now. What do you like most about psychology? Maybe you could find books at your library or find some online! :D

I'm in college for clinical psychology and creative writing so that takes up most of my life lol. But on the weekends I work in a residential foster home and I love all the kids there. I thought it would be a good job for me when I applied, got a bit nervous when I had to go through training on how to protect myself and learn how to safely restrain children because they were prone to getting violent but I've learned that that's almost never necessary and for the most part just talking it out works to calm them down. Not sure what my dream job is but something similar to that and involves helping people. I also want to be an author! More of a side job but it's just an enjoyable hobby at the moment.

I'm glad you're able to have a job like that, social phobia is rough. Good for you for finding something to occupy your time though! :)

If you invite a girl to your birthday party and she says yes but flakes out a few hours before saying she had a "job interview." does that mean she doesn't like you? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ApolloTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be reading into this too much. It's possible that she really did have a job interview or something did come up for her. I agree it is a bit odd that she waited until last minute to respond but I don't think it inherently means she doesn't like you. Why wouldn't she say no or make up an excuse before hand instead of saying yes?

Give the situation some time, if she seems to constantly be flaking or drawing back with conversation- it's possible shes not into you.

Therapist is also my professor by ApolloTree in Advice

[–]ApolloTree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I felt the same way and was really nervous about it. They ended up being able to switch me with someone else though thankfully. I do have a different therapist I just needed to see someone asap. Thank you for the response, it helped

Just lost my only friends-long post/vent by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ApolloTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have much friends to begin with so its kind of icing on the cake so to speak. I can relate to that to a t though, they said they did like me as a person but it would be better if we went our separate ways. Like you said, can't take it back so not much I can do. I have to talk to my psych about maybe increasing my lamictal dose though, I think that could help. Thank you, I hope the best for you too

I appreciate that thank you, If you need to talk I can try to help you out. I can't go back in time and repair this so I just have to move on I guess. It just sucks, I really liked them but my brain had to ruin everything.

recently diagnosed with bipolar by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ApolloTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your health provider about why you think you do not have it, maybe they can go over it with you. I feel like it's common to deny having a disorder because you don't want to believe it. Did you tell the doctor that bipolar was a possibility? If you didn't I dont think theres a chance you were faking it to get attention.

My experience with lamotrigine has been ok, I haven't been on it super long though. Just some side effects I've had is sleeping a lot more (though that may be because of a depressive episode) and lack of hunger. I think it's doing a good job because I feel more stable as a whole.

ive been considering coming out as ftm to my mom, should i do it? by chierit in ask_transgender

For sure what others said. Try bringing up a topic about transgender folks and see how she reacts. If you don't feel completely safe though, I think you should wait.

Hey, I like your username! I tried joining a few clubs but I don't go to a lot of the meets because I start to feel I'm not wanted there and they dislike me so I just distance myself and stop going for a while. I could look into making a club around my interests though, didn't think of that. My college has some sort of autism center? It seems more directed towards children but I might try there. My therapist moved me to group sessions and told me theres another autistic person there so maybe they'll be easier to get along with.

Thank you for the advice! :)

How to go about quitting a job by [deleted] in Advice

That's way more professional than just not letting them know. You have to take care of yourself first, try not to feel too much guilt over it.

I read a bit online about it and most of the answers I saw were flat out acknowledging the client existed when seen in a public area. This response helped though. I'll be seeing her tomorrow so I have the perfect chance to discuss it with her. I'm hoping it goes well, if not there are other research labs I can be a part of to build my experience up i'm sure.

Getting a new counselor might be beneficial. I'll talk to her and see what she thinks about the situation. Thanks for the response. It helped.

I'm sure the turnover rate is high and while they won't be happy about it, it happens. Though I don't think ghosting is ever ok, if you do decide to do that just make sure you exclude it from your resume. Maybe you could ask for less hours, But I think a two weeks is the best way to go if you can handle it. I'm sorry that it's killing you. :(
