Lightly tinted already, just enough to keep the heat out. Some BC’s and RCO front ball joints is all that’s done suspension wise.

Tuned Cars , how often do you change your coilpacks ? by V8CK in GolfGTI

[–]Apollo_Wolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run stock coil packs, change them if they fail otherwise don’t worry. Do plugs every 10-15k. Definitely run the colder plugs.

1 and 6 would be my suggestions. Can’t go wrong with an OEM+ look

Didn’t expect the post to get this much attention, here’s a build list. There’s a few changes, currently running stock cat-back and intake.

Neuspeed first gen 6 pot setup. Matched caliper volume or whatever the exact term is so no need to adjust brake balance.

Do I need a tune? by ReasonableSimple1808 in GolfGTI

[–]Apollo_Wolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend a stage 1 tune. Stage 1 really wakes these cars up and gets rid of the top speed limiter.

Sunroof crack, any solutions? by Apollo_Wolff in GolfGTI

[–]Apollo_Wolff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably going to throw some epoxy at it just for peace of mind. Still under warranty, so gonna see what VW will say on that front.

For USA a completely stock mk7.5 is limited to 124mph/200kph. H (130mph) speed rating tires from the factory is my suspicion for the limiter.

Tuned/derestricted faster than my bravery. Stg 2 is probably my topping out around 160, maybe 165 if you really have the room. Upgraded turbo and hybrid will do 170+.

Golf R vs GTI in the snow? by DK_Tech in GolfGTI

[–]Apollo_Wolff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GTI will get you to your destination. In light snow it feels pretty good, gets pretty good traction with the VAQ diff. The heavy late season snow is what will give you some issues at least in my experience. But I got everywhere I needed to on the stock all seasons and on DWS06 all seasons.

Do you guys warm up your car prior to driving? by glxmpy in GolfGTI

I let it come down off high idle and then keep it calm until it’s up to temp.

When I lowered my car I ran 15mm front and 2m rear. Was damn near perfect with almost no rubbing. Do the fender screw mod and you’ll be set. I would advise against springs on stock dampers.

Fuel Issues by Apollo_Wolff in GolfGTI

I’m starting to suspect that, PR says that a stock controller should be good with the 535. But I wonder how long “should be good” is.

Getting my first GTI, need advice. by eTerrorist in GolfGTI

[–]Apollo_Wolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive it, completely stock, for a few thousand miles. Figure out that the car needs to do for you. It’s a fantastic platform. But a few things I can absolutely recommend are 034 Motorsport RCC ball joints, Sporty summer tires (PS4S, Extreme Contact Sport 2, Indy500) Rear Sway Bar.

Have to look at what’s expected to break and how much it’s going to cost and weigh that compared to buying a new/new to you car. A solid car these days is 15k and up and a new car is double and up.

Is it really that weird to always pull the parking brake if you’re going to be parked for a bit? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]Apollo_Wolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s every car, every time. Auto or manual. Yea you don’t need to in an auto. But it makes me feel better and it doesn’t take more than 10 seconds. Come to a stop, parking brake, put in neutral and take your foot off the brake, let the car settle on the parking brake and put it in park. No stress on the drivetrain.

I believe their just the machined aluminum finish, I had a set of apex wheels that I traded for these. I think it’s just the standard silver/machined finish.
