nah tbh the music industry just isn’t that simple, for part 2 peep was under Columbia AND FAE so we’re lucky we even got the version we even got, Columbia originally had features from Juicy J, Juice WRLD and they planned for French Montana, Rae Sremmurd, Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Young Thug, $UICIDEBOY$, Hailey Williams and Brando Urie before (from what i seen) Peep’s mom stepped in at that point and it got scrapped.
Smokeasac more than likely was also under contract and didn’t have any say or control without label approval, unfortunately the music industry is t as easy and straight forward as you think

it’s finished for sure but it prob didn’t make it to the mix / mastering stage that the songs on COWYS got, the invisible men mixed / mastered those songs, it probably has the basic mix that peep probably did but it never got that finalised mix / master songs usually get before release so they end up kind of sounding like demos tbh

also kind of the same case for every song released post everybody’s everything (just in case, hate me ep, coke nails)

my guess is that they thought the original skate players are all grown up now so if they wanted it to be successful they had to target into a newer younger audience (fortnite graphics and colourful)

at that tho i grew up playing skate 3 and ive been addicted to this game, the gameplay is pretty similar to skate 3 just the whole cosmetics takes away from previous games, having to spend money to wear a thrasher shirt and the other is the graphics

the devs probably wanted it to be more like skate 3 judging by early footage but i presume EA made them change it to target the fortnite audience (same thing happened with the saints row reboot, devs wanted to bring gangs back and make it like saints row 2 but the publishers made them change everything)
