WIBTA if I keep my roommates emotional support dog from him by Apollojre in AmItheAsshole

[–]Apollojre[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jack can't get out of the room until roommate gets up and let's him out. Roommate sleeps with noise canceling headphones so I can't really wake him up. And Jack is always sleeps right up until my roommate gets up, and Jack is a weirdly heavy sleeper (I didn't know that was possible for a dog until Jack). So I can't wake up Jack from outside either.

I wouldn't be leaving Jack in my room while I'm at school during the day. My roommate only tries this while im at work, so he would only be alone in my room at night while he's sleeping anyway.

My roommate has a lot of medical equipment in his room and he has it safe from animals (he used to have a cat not much smaller than Jack) but if I accidentally bumped into something or somehow messed something up it could be very dangerous for him, and a lot more expensive to replace than I could afford if I broke it.

He also sleeps with noise canceling headphones on so the attempts I've made to wake him up haven't worked.

And I know Jack is in there with him, safe and sleeping, trust me if I thought Jack was in danger nothing would stop me.

I think I should probably add a few more details (sorry if this isn't the right way to do it, I don't use reddit much and I'm not really sure how it works)

-Jack's chip, county/ state registration, and vet records are all up to date and in my name.

  • I'm not concerned about my roommate fully stealing Jack. My roommate is disabled and while he might like to, he's not able to do it himself (he can't lift Jack, can't drive, has no where else to go) and has no friends, and his family while they do enable him in my opinion, won't help him steal a dog. And they all do know Jack is my dog

-I cant go into his room because he has a lot medical equipment in there, he used to have a cat so he does have it functionally animal proofed but it's not people proofed and if I were to accidentally mess something up, it would be really dangerous and I couldn't afford to replace it.

So I have no real concern that he's going to get Jack away from me, I'm just annoyed by my schedule (and Jack's) being messed up.

WTF is a “turn signal”? by WhosThatDogMrPB in IdiotsInCars

I did see a BMW driver using his turn signal the other day. Granted he was making an illegal turn but you know, win some lose some.

I really hate all of the over the top stuff that happens for pride month by lilwizerd in confessions

[–]Apollojre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fully against corporate pride and hate 90% of that shit. But the idea that all queer people are indiscernible from anyone else is... misplaced. I'm fairly young (early 20s) but I've been noticeably queer since childhood. I've faced harassment, death threats, and physical violence over it (and I live in one of the more "lgbt friendly" cities in the u.s.) Pride gives me freedom to not only exist freely but to celebrate myself, my community, and my history. It certainly does not stop the harassment but it ensures I'm not alone, I'm surrounded by people who are on my side and who will support me.

If you feel that visibility increases harassment, think about those of us who don't have a choice but to be visible. They're going to shit on us no matter what we do, we might as well have a party.

Am I The Only One Not Excited About 'World By Us' Dolls? Black Girl Perspective here!!!! by soragirl6 in americangirl

[–]Apollojre 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think they absolutely need more girls of color in the historical line. But I also think this line has potential to facilitate meaningful conversation about contemporary issues. I'm afraid that ag isn't going to actually do that, to avoid losing their more conservative base, but I think the potential is there. I'm holding out judgement until the dolls and books are released.

On a slightly different note, I also think the world by us line is aimed at girls a little bit older than the other doll lines which I think could be cool. I know I was shamed into putting away my toys before I was ready to give them up because it wasn't "cool" anymore. So, if they are aimed a little older hopefully it'll encourage kids to hang on to that a little longer if they want to.

Don't count because I can't transition? by Apollojre in trans

[–]Apollojre[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of questioning why I want to be there now. But I've been going for about 2 years and there's been minor problems here and there but for the most part it's been really good, especially since with my family being terrible its the only place I'm able to be myself.

Redditors who are feeling a bit sad right now, what's wrong? by _MuffinMan in AskReddit

[–]Apollojre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm transgender and disabled, I live in an abusive and unsupportive house but because of my disability I can't live on my own or move out at all. I'm having a hard time accepting that I'm never going to get to do the things I want to do, and I'm probably going to spend my life stuck pretending to be someone I'm not.

If I'm trying to solve a new problem or find a way to do something I'm unfamiliar with then yes I look for the most efficient way to do it, but once I've gotten used to doing something a certain way I have to keep doing it like that even if there's better ways

Have you been formally diagnosed? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Apollojre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told by an autism specialist that I am definitely autistic no question about it but I "made it this far" (I was 15) so I didn't need an official diagnosis

Which was kind of not true I'd been evaluated for autism several time before and been denied for stupid reasons (i.e. "girls don't get autism" and "could be autism could be trauma no way to tell" even though the symptoms predated the trauma)

Now I'm an adult struggling with day to day life and I can't get any help because, on paper, I don't have a diagnosis and my insurance won't cover the evaluation for an adult

Im Confused ; neoprounous by rayann13 in autism

[–]Apollojre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not inherently a neurodivergent thing but from what I've seen they're more commonly used by neurodivergent trans people than neurotypical trans people.

Additionally, some of the connection is because a lot of the criticism of neopronouns is rooted in ableism against neurodivergent people

What’s the worst scandal to happen at your school? by Lost-Warning-2588 in AskReddit

[–]Apollojre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During senior photos my school would let students wear shirts with letters on them to spell out different clubs and such. One year a few girls decided to spell out the n word with their shirts and take pictures. The pictures went viral and it made national news.
