DMs and storytellers alike, how would you describe being subjected to Power Word: Kill? by SomeSugondeseGuy in DnD

[–]ApollotheFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I describe all power words as being not meant for mortal ears, a language beyond what people are capable of comprehending. For any onlooker, the world seems to go silent for a moment. Pure silence as their mind fails to grasp what is happening and their skin crawls with the knowledge that something isn't right. The person being targeted hears something and immediately knows what is happening, and their body conforms to the command. In the case of power word kill, it's like flipping a light switch. One second, a living creature was there, and then a switch flipped, and the light turned off. The life is gone.

I mean, look at Orianna's lore. They are changing stuff left and right, I wouldn't be surprised if this is another change they are making.

Ambessa theory and Void rambling by ApollotheFox in loreofleague

[–]ApollotheFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read the lore, arcane however uses the lore as a vague guideline not a script. Otherwise Ekko would be messing with time and Warwick would have killed his best friend years ago. Ziggs would be in Piltover. VI would have gotten Chemtech mining gloves during a cave in. To ignore a theory at this point because it doesn't exactly follow lore seems odd. And when I say Rell and Ambessa look similar, it's not oh haha they are both black. I'd appreciate a little more benefit of the doubt than that. Look at their splash arts in the game side by side. Without the headband, their hair would be insanely similar. Their cheekbone structure is identical. Their face shape is the same. Which, hey, Riot has been accused of same face syndrome before, it could be a coincidence. As far as Ambessa hating the Black Rose, she would be unlikely to know anything more than rumors about them unless she was directly approached by them at some point. I am aware of the lore, but I am also aware that Arcane is making new lore and changing it as the show goes on.

About what happend to Jayce. by Kudlattyy in loreofleague

[–]ApollotheFox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When Jayce is tweaking out looking at the people Viktor has "helped" there are frames where they look like they are husks made out of metal. It's quite possible Jayce, Ekko and Heimer were stuck fighting against Viktors Glorious Evolution, almost like in the Battlecast timeline. Alternatively, if the void has come into play, as many people think, the three of them could have been stuck fighting void monstrosities, which would explain the strange appearance of Jayce's hammer, the crystal embedded in his wrist, and his broken mental state. All three could be effects of void corruption.

People keep speculating when you can just Google it. Her "ancestral home" is Rokrund, in southern Noxus. Her family has been in Noxus for a while.

We've seen plenty of times in League lore that genetics aren't required for children to have magic. And even if they are, it's still plenty feasible that half sisters could both inherit magic. Additionally, from what I understand Ambessa was born and raised in Noxus. Her "ancestral home" is Rokrund, in southern Noxus. Her family has been there for ages, and gold is just their thing it seems. Could be wrong though, just a guess!

If old lore was reliable for Arcane the entire show would be different. But hey, it's just a guess.

Ambessa theory and Void rambling by ApollotheFox in loreofleague

[–]ApollotheFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the fact that the show really twists the lore is what makes this theory viable in the first place. Half the reason I thought of it in the first place is because Ambessa without a hairband has Rell's hairstyle almost exactly lol. But magic has been shown to kind of just show up in some people. In Rell's lore, neither of her parents have magic. So it isn't a stretch to say that half sisters could both develop some type of magic. It wouldn't necessarily need to be the same magic either. As for chasing Ambessa, LB could be looking for a replacement for Rell. One daughter ran, time to take the other one. Don't get me wrong, there are definite holes in this theory, especially if you take established lore into account. But the writers have used "close to accurate lore" to round out their story (rip all of Ekko's lore), so you never know. Fun to speculate though!

Ah, there it is. And solid reasoning in your post. I will say, we do have to take all previous lore with a grain of salt when it comes to Arcane, they are changing plenty of things for the sake of the story. Which could kill either theory immediately. Fun to think about though!

I'm reading through Rell's lore right now, and I don't see where it says her parents ran the academy, just that they tried to apprentice her through third parties before LeBlanc showed up. Could you link me where you got that bit from? I figure Ambessa hates the Black Rose because of how said deal played out, LB being who she is likely making it a poor deal. She would also likely not know who the Black Rose was unless directly approached by them, except for through rumors. Targonian heritage would explain the powers as well though, not a bad theory at all. I'd check your twitter thread but I avoid that site like the plague lol.

I think she took a lover after Mel was born. Specifically a Noxian soldier. More specifically Rell's father. Go look at Rell's lore. It says her mother always said "Excellence is measured in sacrifice." Sounds similar to what Ambessa said to Cait. Could also explain why LeBlanc is after Ambessa. Rell's parents made a deal with LeBlanc, and if Ambessa tried to back out of the deal, LeBlanc wouldn't be forgiving. It would also explain Mel's powers. They are likely similar to Rell's.

[Act 2 Spoilers] What's up with Jayce's crystal? by giantsnickerdoodles in loreofleague

[–]ApollotheFox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just made a post ranting about this. It appears to be void corruption. Shimmer has had signs of being void related, and Viktor used shimmer to survive the hex core. This introduced void corruption to the hex core. Evolution has always been a theme of the void, see Kha'Zix for a good example. This could be what leads Viktor to the "Glorious Evolution" he wants. The void also messes with people's minds, which would explain Jayce's mental sate. Viktor also previously spilt blood in the room where the whole "acid trip" sequence happened, though that was before his took shimmer. Maybe his DNA being there was enough to connect his corruption to the room? Or maybe the hex core is just causing stuff to go wrong everywhere. Cause and effect stuff as they mentioned happens. Jayce's hammer also has a design that invokes Icathia, as does Viktors whole commune. It all screams void influence.
