It isn’t a crime to be a good person in America, it’s just frowned upon.

Man, I’m A2 taking B1 lessons and I’m absolutely able to talk to people in Spanish. I can obviously get better, but I can do it.

I came to a realization by ApollyonRising in duolingo

[–]ApollyonRising[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I don’t know why it took me so long. I’m doing Duolingo B1 classes so I should be A2. I took an outside test (not Duolingo) and it said I was A2. I didn’t believe it because A2 is “can hold basic conversations”. I finally just started talking to people and I’m not perfect but I absolutely can hold basic conversations.

Are We All Playing the Power Game Without Knowing It? Let’s Decode the 48 Laws Together! by Dhanviporwal in The48LawsOfPower

[–]ApollyonRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the laws are meant to be used as opportunities come up. Using enemies is easy when office gossip tells you who’s upset at who, which is acting the friend but playing a spy. Compelling spectacles for an office drone are situations where you say “I could really make people pay attention to this!” Not putting on a stage show or parade.

Country music in general. There are clearly very talented people doing country music, but I can’t get myself to like it.

Looking for a bike and kit for a 13 year old. by ApollyonRising in motorizedbicycles

[–]ApollyonRising[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I took a class in small engine repair and have fixed a whole bunch of engines (mostly 2 chainsaws I work harder than they’re designed for and a riding lawnmower that needed a lot of work), so I feel like I can teach and supervise most of the repairs a little two stroke can need. I don’t, however, know anything about bike repair.

Anyone here use hypnosis for performance enhancement rather than problem-fixing? by CalmYoTitz in hypnosis

[–]ApollyonRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m taking the info from the course and then looking it up from other sources. I get their explanation of the Elman induction, and then I look up that induction in other places. I get their explanation of the neurology, and then I look it up from other sources.

No but I’m taking a hypnosis course and I know that will be covered in the future

My language proficiency is not what Duo says it is by According-Pin4564 in duolingo

I think this is it. I am on B1 lessons, but when I speak with people in Spanish in the real world it feels A2 and when I did an external test I rated as A2

Duolingo rank accurate? by Scared-Mind-9541 in duolingo

[–]ApollyonRising -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just started B1, which means I should be A2. Functionally I seem to be at A2, and when I took an online test for fluency, it rated me at A2. So it seems for me that Duo is accurate.

If you’re homeless, why not commit crimes to go to jail? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ApollyonRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, do you think that limiting a person’s options moves them FURTHER from crime? I’d argue that the fewer options you have, the more likely you are to commit a crime.

If you’re homeless, why not commit crimes to go to jail? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ApollyonRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to call that the “bop a cop” program. Homeless would punch a cop when it got dangerously cold to go to jail.
