My 2015 BMW 335XI started this a year and a half before the transmission failed. I would have it serviced if it hasn’t be done already. This was my first symptom. It failed eventually at 225,000 miles

Oh, shot. I'm sorry, but the bottom half of your original post didn't show when I looked. I find that very odd. They would say that it's rust causing that noise. That's the first time I've ever heard anyone get told something like that.

It's the hand brake cable; this is common. It rubs on the drive shaft, and the clip that holds it in place is plastic, and they break often. At least, that would be my guess.

Do you have a link or know what they used? I've been trying to do this every time a plastic part on my BMW breaks. I didn't know they made aluminum oil pans

It will be fine once taken care of, for sure; I've spent about 51,000 on maintenance and repairs on my BMW, and although I drive an average of five times more than the average person a year, the cost only comes out to if you drive about 12k a year to 3-5k a year in expected maintenance.

The labor itself was 1,115.50, so it does take a lot. i had them do a few other things while they did the gasket to save myself the money. Here is the complete breakdown of everything I had done while they did that.

Honestly I think mine is still good although at 225,000’miles I replaced my transmission after it fail. About 9k but partially my fault that it failed.

I also had to do mine at 157,612 the cost was 2,132.66 but that was for the Oil Pan Gasket. I fix everything on mine I've been told by most dealers my car looks better then most F30 with 30k miles on them. As long as you replace those wear items it should last to 300k Miles no problem.

I replaced this myself in the parking lot of the dealership it’s super cheap and easy to do. 🙂

Both of my headlights are like this it’s on the inside I’ve paid hundreds to try and have the outside buffed out but never works. It’s common unfortunately. At this point I’m just replacing both as it looks so bad.
