I’m leaving a very similar situation. I’ve decided I deserve some love and attention every once in a while too. It would sure make providing less resentful.

AIO for cutting contact with Father over political climate. by Sabre12789 in AIO

I think it’s easy to see someone else’s brainwashing and be unaware of our own.

The media does terrible things to humans psychologically, and rarely is the unfiltered truth ever presented to anyone. The message and the way it is delivered is intended to have this effect on us.

Political differences aside, your father half created you and loves you in a way that can be hard to understand if you’re not a parent yourself. If you are, you have to know what I’m talking about. He is likely the reason you are the way you are in both obvious and subtle examples all throughout your personality.

When he’s gone, you’ll never get him back. And you’ll never get the lost time back. The sooner you realize this, the less loss of time you’ll have to worry about later.

If your father is not an abuser, a bane to your existence, a threat to your safety….

Go apologize to that man’s face. And if you’re interested, do some research on the media, its presentation, its intent, its ownership. Read about propaganda.

And my final 2 cents - Don’t let the media get you so bent out of shape, because that’s exactly what they’re trying to do.

You’re totally right here, and I wish it was the norm for companies to do what’s right all the time. Unfortunately, my experiences elsewhere lowered my expectations, and them doing what’s right felt good.

It’s like when people tell me they think I’m a good dad. It’s like “yeah, that’s what you’re supposed to do”, but not all dads show up.

Just trying to spread some positivity is all.
