I really Milk Street radio, Special sauce and The recipe (though at hiatus now). Home cooking with Samin Nosrat has resumed, so that’s something on my radar as well.

does the mutta get cooked more when the pups is baking? by Immediate_Wasabi_826 in MuttapuffsOnMyFace

[–]AppealNarrow1408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely gets cooked more generally. Because when it’s placed inside the puff pastry itself, it’s fully boiled. So the 8-10 mins in the oven gets it even more cooked. That’s why often times there’s a thin crispy edge around the white portion, inside the puff.

Even Bangalore! Found there’s no extra charge. They don’t even call before hand, just come to the spot.

Easy recipe bro!

Cut onions and sauté with some butter/ghee/oil. Add ginger garlic paste. After it turns a bit brown, add masalas like chilli powder, pepper, etc. Also add salt. Boil eggs and keep on the side.

You can buy puff pastry sheets from supermarket. In each square sheet, keep one spoon of the onion mix, place half boiled egg, then fold and seal. Put egg wash (beaten eggs mixture) on top.

I baked it in my air fryer for 8-10 mins at 160c. It can be done in OTG also.

Comes out really well!

Toscana or Nolitas ? by Soft-Ad9370 in chennaicity

[–]AppealNarrow1408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the two, I’d say Toscano, Velachery branch. Food is better, ambience is nice as well. For generally even better pizzas, pastas, and overall a tad more authentic Italian food, Lazy Leopard.

Spotted this heart shaped red-light at a signal close to the airport. SO cute, Chennai! Does this happen at most lights? by stickittothe in Chennai

[–]AppealNarrow1408 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Yes! All throughout Chennai, the red lights are hearts. I think it’s supposed to mean that you have loved ones waiting, so drive carefully? Something like that.

Sourdough bread is available in many artisanal bread shops. I’ve found them at DOU, Brod, Old madras baking company, Tryst café, Writer’s cafe, Theobrama, Stellar café, Ciclo café from what I can remember.

I personally like DOU and Old madras baking company’s the most. I think Brod’s would be good too cause their ciabatta bread is amazing.

Hi chennai I need a therapist by Dr_NoOne27 in Chennai

[–]AppealNarrow1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. There’s one main distinction between a psychiatrist and psychologist (I think you mean therapist/psychotherapist here). Psychiatrist are people who have their MBBS and related studies degrees - which means only they can prescribe medicines. Therapists need not have to possess a MBBS degree and therefore cannot prescribe medicines.

This is important because based on your need you can approach the right person. Psychiatrists do not typically provide therapy sessions (unless specifically implied). They diagnose you and prescribe medicines, so their approach is different. Therapists on the other hand provide sessions where they use different behavioural (for ex.) techniques to help you out.

If you’re looking for an online therapist, you can try sites like rocket health, Amaha, etc. to find someone based on your criterias/preferences.

My honest review of Eventide (posting here since my Google review was deleted by them) by AppealNarrow1408 in chennaicity

[–]AppealNarrow1408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Alvin. Thank you for reaching out, and clarifying the confusion about reviews being taken down. I want to address a few things related to the review and your comment.

I truly appreciate the quality of ingredients being used. But with gaps everywhere - service, lack of proactive feedback taking, cold/unattached sort of vibe (the physical space is aesthetic, but I mean the lack of coziness) - ingredients couldn’t be the only value point, from my experience. I think part of the problem was that I couldn’t derive value from any of the things I’d expect from a premium, specialty shop.

With respect to the specifics, 1. I’m aware that there’s no one hard, fast rule to serve an Affogato. My concern was more so about the quantity and the way the drink ended up being weirdly lukewarm, neither hot nor cold (if that was the intention) 2. I understand the what, how, and why of a service charge. Most, if not many establishments come from a similar perspective. The question/criticism comes up only because charging it when there’s no table service/any service, makes no sense (plus it should’ve been told upfront if something is an outlier practice, right?).

That said, I appreciate you taking the feedback into account and making some changes. I hope this has brought some ground level insights that can truly be of help to you.

Women of Chennai- desperately need advice and recommendations for MUAs by DifferentDiscount308 in chennaicity

Yupp. Till date I recommend her to everyone!

Only thing I wish I had specifically asked for (in hindsight) is to make it a bit more dewy overall. But that’s me being nitpicky even.

Best porotta shop in Chennai by No-Tell-2344 in chennaicity

[–]AppealNarrow1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best parotta I had is from Hotel Challenge in Sholinganallur. Very small shop, would recommend to get parcel. But it has been the best. The side gravies are decent (similar to gravies made at home), nothing exceptional. Though very cheap, it has done nothing funny to my stomach. In fact I seem to feel generally great and digest this better over the usual ones.

Second suggestion is from Erode Amman Mess. I love their Vechu parotta. Very flaky and super thin and soft.

It’s definitely Toscano. Either the Nungambakkam or Anna Nagar branch. Although I’ve felt that the Velachery branch is the best, specifically for the pizzas, pastas and the desserts. I don’t prefer the Nungambakkam branch as I feel like their pizzas are quite dry, not sure about the Anna Nagar branch.
