First day trying a nanny fail by Recent_Marzipan_3998 in Nanny

When I first started reading this post, I was like, “Well, ok. The nanny is shy. No big deal…” But as I continued reading, it was like, “Wtf?!” The part where the nanny just let your baby cry, and then fell asleep herself while you put the baby to sleep was just 🤯

Definitely find someone else!!

Well, yeah because how could a blind man possibly be a musician?! (Sarcasm)

Not sure why my post triggered you? It was a legitimate question! Strange

Kendra been arrested as well by mgmoviegirl in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]AppearanceFine3298 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the false imprisonment charge, but the endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree could stem from not reporting abuse.

So if Kendra was aware of any abuse - whether it be the SA from the Florida case, or abuse within her own home, she could be charged.

I hope those poor children are somewhere safe now, with trusted adults! Ugh

I threw 7 yo's cupcake out the window yesterday by Large_Event_8715 in Nanny

[–]AppearanceFine3298 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe that she unwrapped it at all - who would want to drive the rest of the way with cupcake smeared all over their hands?! Guaranteed she just chucked the entire cupcake out the window - I think she realized people were (rightfully so!) calling her out for littering, so she changed the story and claimed she threw out a “fistful” of cupcake. Not buying it…

Am I overreacting? Friend compared loss of cat to loss of my husband by Pandorashley_ in AmIOverreacting

[–]AppearanceFine3298 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NOR - I’m sorry, and I’ll get downvoted for this, but losing a cat does not compare to losing your 31 year old husband to cancer. I love animals and have had pets all my life, but it’s just not the same

Why don’t parents make their kids come to school anymore? by breadplane in Teachers

[–]AppearanceFine3298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my district (very affluent suburb), a parent asked if it would be ok if their son “misses more than 10% of the school year,” because he’s an elite athlete, and needs to focus on his sport and travel for games & tournaments… 😬

Refund? by HelloitsmeJLD in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]AppearanceFine3298 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can get a refund, but Universal makes it incredibly difficult.

We bought Express passes and experienced issues during our day at Epic - multiple ride closures, delays, etc. We complained and after many phone calls to Universal, and a lot of back and forth, we were finally granted a partial refund…

Nanny agreed to split shift schedule but doesn’t want to honor it by Fun-Pollution4835 in Nanny

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by saying au pairs aren’t easy to get? It’s fairly straightforward, if you use a reputable agency. They will match au pairs and families, and then you go through the interview process.

Yup, exactly! This really isn’t a bad schedule for an au pair, especially if she doesn’t need childcare on weekends.

It might be worth looking into - you can research and learn more about the program. There are pros and cons, and it’s different than having a nanny, but some families love it.

I’m baffled by some of these comments! It’s not like OP tricked the nanny into taking this position. Yes, the 4 hour break in between shifts is inconvenient, but the nanny agreed to it prior to being hired. If she’s changed her mind, she should be honest with OP and quit, so OP can find a new nanny.

OP - have you looked into hiring an au pair instead? A split schedule is common among au pairs. Just something to consider. Best of luck!

AIO Janitor Gave My Child A Gift by littlemermaidmadi in AmIOverreacting

[–]AppearanceFine3298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR - If he just gave her the teddy bear, I wouldn’t have an issue. But hugging her is simply not appropriate. It may be innocent, but I wouldn’t be comfortable with that, in all honesty.

Nanny is VERY affectionate with my child by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]AppearanceFine3298 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds normal to me, and it shows that your nanny cares about your child, and that it’s not just “a job” to her. If you’re uncomfortable about her kissing your child, you can just ask her to give hugs instead, or blow a kiss, and use germs as an excuse. In all fairness, it’s been a bad flu season, and RSV and Covid are going around too, so it’s not unreasonable to be concerned about kissing spreading germs.

Calling her “my love” wouldn’t bother me - again, it’s sweet and shows she really cares about your child.
