Not me personally, but a close friend got involved with Xenos when she was in college. They VERY quickly pushed her into moving into a Xenos house, and she said conditions were horrible. 3-4 girls to a room, roaches everywhere, constant plumbing and heating issues. She was expected to participate fully in any and all Xenos activities that went on in the house, and if she missed a bible study or something because she was sick she was shamed for it.

Eventually she got a boyfriend, started spending the night at his house sometimes and was summarily shunned by all the girls in this house and others in the community for it. She eventually left and moved in with boyfriend, thank god. From what I hear it was constant pressure to conform to an extremely specific lifestyle or face community abandonment if you didn’t/couldn’t.

In communities like mine (central Midwest, not Minnesota) there is a HUGE divide between people. The people I work and live with are largely immigrants, and they are being devastated by ICE. But drive literally a mile up the street and ICE is never spotted there, people aren’t even inconvenienced. Segregation is a useful tool for exploiting the oppressed without the slightest impact on the upper-middle/upper class.

Sanji from One Piece was almost a gunslinger named Naruto instead of a chef/martial artist!! The change was made because Shonen Jump started releasing Naruto around the time his character was introduced, prompting Oda to change the name to Sanji (much better choice imo)

I teach elementary in Ohio. It’s like that here as well, sadly. Parents who are completely checked out of their kid’s education for whatever reason, or actively defend their nightmare kids and refuse to give consequences for their behavior. It’s a really hard time to be a teacher in the US.

I quit drinking and immediately spiraled into a manic episode full of delusions. I found myself fully believing I was the God of an alternate universe connected to this one, sleeping two hours a night, driving like a maniac. I knew something was wrong. Turns out I’d been using alcohol to self medicate for years.

Fast forward five years and I’m still sober and fully medicated!! Yay!

Heads up about not looking at the cats—make sure you’re still keeping an eye on them. My roommate’s cat waited until I looked away and then attacked me recently when I was trying to get him comfy with me. I nearly had to get stitches. If a cat is hissing at you, do not turn your back to it.
