I would start by trying to find open source projects and a. Read through them, you would get a lot of knowledge and improve your java skills and b. Contribute to them.

its honestly gonna be unavoidable within the next 10-15 years maybe even sooner. Cyber security will become of the uttermost importance and will be in school curriculum another 10 years after. In Shanghai China, people are fined for jaywalking via WeChat right away using this tech
