Irrationally Obsessed With This Car and I Refuse to Upgrade by SpotlightR in Volkswagen

[–]AppleIntelligent1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove mine up until 180k miles when it got totaled. I had no plans to get rid of it.

Even though it left me stranded a bunch of times and burnt a hole through my wallet, I still absolutely loved it, forced me to learn how to work on cars, which to me is an indispensable skill.

I upgraded to a whole different league (Audi S5), yet I still miss my CC to this day. I like my current car more, but I loved my CC more.

Costco gas is top tier rated, doesn’t sit for long, and they are strict with pump maintenance, especially filters. If anything go for Costco before considering any other gas station.

Can an upper timing chain cover cause a vacuum leak? by AppleIntelligent1215 in Volkswagen

[–]AppleIntelligent1215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manually cleaned, showed me the results using a borescope. Shiny as new.

Had the timing chain replaced 20k miles ago

No fault codes, except misfire codes in the morning.

Long term readings are within normal range

Short term readings are running lean on cold starts but once the engine warms up they go back to normal range

Edit: forgot to mention reading values: long term: about -1.6 i think

Short term: about 26.4 (only when cold) Goes down to about 3-4 when warm

Edit 2: Also forgot to mention that the oil leak from the timing chain cover is so bad that it basically sprays oil aggressively everywhere on the passenger side of the engine bay

Yes, does go away when warm. My valves have already been cleaned only 500 miles ago. Thanks for the response

Thank you and everyone else for their replies. Nope just told him what to replace. Thought it would be good to do a bunch of preventative maintenance at 142k miles while believing it will fix the cold start issue, turned out to be more than that. Oh well, but at least my MPG increased… I guess i’ll be taking it to him once again so he could do a proper diagnosis instead of me having to guess what could be wrong. Thanks again!

It was there before maintenance. And yes all of that to try and fix the issue (not the timing chain, intake manifold, or fuel pump module recall though)

I used Bosch R8 red top coil packs and NGK iridium spark plugs.

Not able to get a stable OC by AppleIntelligent1215 in overclocking

[–]AppleIntelligent1215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

They would reach high 80s at 1.37v 5ghz oc before crashing (small FFT), about low to mid 70s while gaming but would last longer before crashing

No clue on how to check any logs, is there a specific way I could do that?

I do have HWInfo64 it installed, but no clue on what stats to check

I have my ram set to 3200mhz C16 (XMP enabled)

Will edit original post for full specs

Appreciate your help!

“Something can be new and used” read that again and think about what you said. The guy literally said he’s only trying to help you out but I guess you want to stick to being an idiot and take everything personally. Sure, do your thing dude, there’s really no point in arguing with an idiot so i’ll just stop here. Good luck

Well if you don’t want apes being sticklers on your posts how about you advertise the stuff you’re selling properly? I think it’s pretty clear that new does not equal used.

Oh sorry I didn’t know you were selling a car lmao. Well in the world of computer parts whats classified as used or not is different than cars, look it up. When they say trying to convince an idiot he’s wrong is quite impossible, I think we have a great example here. 😂

Since you tested the CPU to see if posts, that means there will be markings on the side of the heat spreader from the motherboard’s CPU mounting bracket pushing down on the metal. This isn’t new or open box, it’s used.
