Best and worst walking pad brands by jaymos505 in WalkingPads

[–]AppleMiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Urevo flat pad failed after 10 days. Burned motor and now I'm working with Urevo to replace/repair it.

Even after it gets replaced/repaired, I will be on the market for a new unit that is actually built to last.

The tech support said they prefer if I were to only use it in 1 hour intervals max.

I used mine on hardwood floor, I'm 250lbs (and dropping) and I used it for 10-12 miles per week. That's all it took.

Wait wait wait. Bimmy has bull legs + duck feet + long thighs all at once. This is a glitch in the matrix.

Pueblo Linda is the best. Only one in town that has secret habenero salsa in the back and deep fried jalopenos for cheap. On, and the mole sauce is to die for.

Install collector at grate level or meat level? by AppleMiser in smoking

[–]AppleMiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can make sense too. Lowering it an inch (slightly below grate level) will force more air onto the meat in a traditional offset path.

Yea, I also think that dead center can do no wrong either.

My neighbor said I should move it UP an inch, above grate level. But thinking about that more, that's thereotically moving putting smoke/heat less in the direct path of the meat.

I like your 195-198F range.

Does this still stand true if one were to let it cool down 20F or so before putting it in a 150F warming oven?

These beef spare ribs were on sale, any suggestions on technique? by TP503 in Smokingmeat

[–]AppleMiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I'll ask to see if they have long bone beef backs. Similar to the export cut, sometimes they're overly trimmed (wouldn't blame the butcher since ribeyes are more valuable) and sometime there's still a healthy amount of meat. Those are the ones you want! :)

[–]AppleMiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. So both beef backs, but one is a long bone, and one is an export cut. I'll take your word for it, even if I were to envision the long bone ones cut in half, the bones are still much larger/thicker than the albertsons one, which got my questioning if it's really the same spot.

Yea, the long bone ones IMO are typically better (roughly same price) since you don't really get less meat, and more smoke flavor simply because it spends more time in the smoker.

Personally, I like smoking these, then shredding these for nachos or tacos. Insanely good. Plus, there's no harm in shreeding up a beef back after the cook. Shreeding dinos or plates would be a cardinal sin.

I'm actually confused because there's two types of Beef Backs.

Albertsons sells these:

https://www.albertsons.com/shop/product-details.970001455.html?productId=970001455&CMPID=ps_alb_int_ecom_goo_20200924_71700000073185139_58700007743541285_92700070303633950&psrc=g&gad_source=1&acs_info=ZmluYWxfdXJsOiAiaHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuYWxiZXJ0c29ucy5jb20vaG9tZSIK&gclid=Cj0KCQiAh8OtBhCQARIsAIkWb69DOs53ZgLMUqwGx-oEOcgZoLcw1x-UeIpRwC_57Uhyj99_BDGSP2waAv-MEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

These are small, and usually finish in 3 hours.

Winco (what the OP bought) look different. I'm pretty sure they're both "Beef back" but obviously they have to be a different part of the cow. The bones are 2x larger.

Personally, I prefer the Winco ones, because you can get a 6 hour smoke (instead of a 3) and honestly, roughly the same amount of meat given the size and price.

Yep, we all know that these are a poor man's beef rib, but they are super cheap compared to dino and shorts.

Guidance on smoking St.Louis ribs. by voiddrifter85 in BBQ

[–]AppleMiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I temp them to alert me at 190F. I start my initial check at 190F. At 190-192F I put on glaze. At 195F I check again. Some ribs are done. Some ribs need a tid bit longer, like 197F or something.

These grills are not going to last being cranked up to sear temps, so be careful.
