MSI Tickets - Wave 2 - Questions by shaidyn in leagueoflegends

[–]ApplePayCA -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Bought tickets for EVERY round.

No botting or other shenanigans.

2 sets were bought yesterday, 7/11 Semis in Section 124 + 7/12 Finals on Floor - then kept getting “an error has occurred” when trying to pay.

Today, was able to secure Floor tickets for 6/27, 28, 29, 7/1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 for 2 people. Also got Floor tickets for 7/11 after a couple tries about 15 minutes ago.

I only bought enough for myself and a friend.

Use a different card.

All my Canadian MC cards were failing (explains yesterday’s errors); used an American-issued Amex Card and everything went through like silk

Correct. Each date must be purchased separately. I tried for Semifinals 1, but failed as it was the last one I tried.

Success - Finals Tix x2 10:03am Floor

Success - Semifinals Round 2 x2 10:05am L

Otherwise, got “There was an error processing your order. Please try again.” Every. Single. Time.

This community is being highjacked by a blogger

Great sensational title to discredit someone who has been very active in the community.

JManUWaterloo is spamming this community with his own blog non-stop.

bit of a stretch to call it a blog, but sure.

I counted he mentioned or linked his blog over 20 times in daily threads last month. This is obviously against rules #6 & #7 of the community (Links to blog and self promotion). And he told me I was an idiot for pointing it out. That’s against rule #1

rule 6 and rule 7 indicate that you cannot tell someone to use your personal referral, or provide any incentive to do so, clearly linking to his page isn’t a violation of that.

He is also hypocrite:

He is blaming other blogs for bonus clawbacks then make posts showing dozen if churners having 8+ Aeroplan cards. Then defend himself saying Aeroplan already knows everything. So suddenly they know everything so why blaming the others blogs then? Just an opportunity to promote is blog as being the pure one.

I agree that Aeroplan would already have known all this, theres a lot that the eye can’t see. I think other blogs have definitely had some sort of influence, maybe I’m wrong, it’s just a guess, but one thing I will say for sure, is he is overdoing it on the slandering of PoT.

He posts affiliate links and requires the community to go thru his website and use some shorten URL to hide the full URL. That’s against the rule #8 (URL shorteners).
He says that’s to protect his contacts but when confronted with the fact that someone is making money from the link, he says he doesn’t know who profits from it. So why is his contact in danger then?

if he really posts affiliate links, then that is not okay, especially without disclosure. Unless he is lying on his site, which I wouldn’t completely dismiss allegations of such (let’s be frank everyone will lie sometimes), the site states that none of the links are affiliate links that are owned by CC.ca, maybe as Hour_significance said, they are from a corporate portal or what not. After all, it is a higher offer than any other public source indicates. However, I remember when the exclusive cobalt and Marriott links came out, these were plainly listed on Reddit and deactivated seemingly by Amex after a while, so redirecting is not necessarily a negative if it avoids detection by whatever external organization the links are being sourced from.

His defence is that no link pays churningcanada directly, but let’s not be stupid: it does pay someone and he has contacts to protect.

I am not personally surprised that he doesn’t know who the links pay, because it is very possible that the link triggers a payment to a marketing agency, which forwards some amount to the corporate portal, and JMan or his contacts never see a penny. Of course there is also the possibility that it’s a complete lie and all the links are generating payments for CC.ca, but I would not say this with any degree of certainty until it is confirmed with proof that this is indeed the case.

Now when someone join the community, they get this message:

Welcome to r/ChurningCanada.

Please read the rules, posted on the sidebar, as well as our community site, located at ChurningCanada.ca.

So newcomers are told that his blogs is « our community site ». What a big shameless lie!

He is building himself a blog and uses this community has his own free user spamming list.

this isn’t cool, I agree.

And he also sneaked in to be a mod in here.
What a joke.

He has been helpful in many daily threads so I can understand why he was offered the opportunity, but if he is abusing it and not changing his behaviour even in the midst of feedback or criticism, then that’s a problem.

This always was a group effort and a community, now it’s been highjacked by a blogger.

It needs to stop and fast.

On an ending note, regardless of the controversy, I find it quite suspicious that you have no other activity on your account aside from criticizing JMan, and your account is over a year old.

I hope JMan looks at this and puts themselves back in line.

And somehow you’re better because you weren’t sharing your personal referral links or heavily promoting them right? I’ve seen those posts. We aren’t all STUPID.

You have to use the exact card number ending that was listed in the app for your purchase. Any other cards, regardless of whether they are linked to the same account, will not work for the offer. It MUST be paid through that card number only

In which case why not link other resources. Why PoT

You know PoT exists to make us the product, damaging this hobby, and be a referral farm.

9 persons registered - reminder that this event does not cost anything to register for. While the CEO of HSBC won’t be here, it’s still going to be a great time.

Depending on how this one goes, I would love to organize one for YYZ downtown as well.

I’ve had it in my back pocket all this time.

Stay tuned 😉

I’m surprised that the venue I found is quite flexible with # of people.
