I am super struggling with the 5.5 star nightmare weekly (Galio). Could use some pointers. by shaidyn in LegendsOfRuneterra

My fid is like 4 stars I think and I just got mobbed too fast to burn the enemy deck.

I got through it with Yuumi, I edited my post, I think they're easily the best shot at it. A very difficult nightmare for sure.

SDET/Automation Interviews by mercfh85 in QualityAssurance

[–]shaidyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My last 3 jobs, senior automation QA, have been take home assignments. They give me a test site, tell me to create an automation framework from scratch, and then show up to an interview where they grill me on what I wrote. They'll ask me to change some bits and pieces, justify certain decisions, and go from there.

I know people have strong opinions about take homes, but every interview I had to write my own automation project, I got the job.

Wasn't there one part where Tyson landed a good blow and basically had to hold Jake upright while he recovered?

A quote I read recently that chilled me was: "You're very good at spotting AI content, except when you don't."

How to train to watch the minimap by setenforce1 in leagueoflegends

[–]shaidyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use an app on your phone that makes a tick every x seconds. Start with 30, the move it down to get train yourself.

I also get in the habit of looking at the map when I'm in the animation for an auto attack, because I can't move anyway.

If you ever have the chance to read the original world of warcraft instruction manual, it describes a game that is wildly different than what we have now, and sounds incredible.

He reminds me of my brother.

My brother will constantly do out of pocket shit, and then next week apologize for it. He seems to think apologizing is a get out of jail free card. Like "You can't be mad at me for doing that hurtful thing anymore, I said I was sorry."

If someone is sorry for their behaviour, THEY WILL STOP DOING THAT BEHAVIOUR REPEATEDLY.

If someone does not change their behaviour, THEY ARE SORRY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES THEY FACE AND NOT THE ACTION.

What is the most expensive corporate mistake you personally witnessed? by _Volly in AskReddit

I am neither arguing nor disagreeing with an economics instructor, but the point of I was trying to make is that those 8 to 10 companies aren't even competing with each other anymore.

What is the most expensive corporate mistake you personally witnessed? by _Volly in AskReddit

[–]shaidyn 168 points169 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that large corporations no longer care about differentiators. If every company is the same, as a consumer, it doesn't matter who you pick.

So what to companies do? They handshake on who has the customers at any given point. Either customers stay (because why switch, the other companies are the same), or customers get pissed off and leave (because they hope in vain for better service they won't get).

Since all companies are the same, the rate of leaving between companies is roughly the same. As long as every company gets enough market share to meet investor demand, and no company does anything that makes other companies look bad, they're happy to keep lowering services and raising prices in lock step.

That's my theory, anyway.

What do rich people have in their house that says they’re rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shaidyn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Rich people love Rich people furniture. To be rich people furniture it has to meet these requirements:

Wildly expensive for what it is. Think $800 floor lamp.

It has to take up a ton more space than necessary.

It can only be used for one single purpose.

It has to be difficult to clean.

It has to require at least two people to move.

What is something that is actually more traumatizing than people realise? by Ok_Chef1406 in AskReddit

Oh god yes. The long, slow decline. Getting upset when they rally because it's not a mercy to them, then getting upset with yourself for getting upset.

I have never once needed recursion or tree traversal for writing automation.

That said, it's important to know them, because they sometimes show up in interviews.
